How is this camera compare to a GoPro?
VLADIMIR M
It is design specifically for the underwater photography. Thus its setting and controls are very easy to use. Moreover, it has an option to add wide lenses as well lights. It is (about) twice bigger that GoPro. In regard to picture quality they are about the same.
VALERIE N
I bought this camera in order to do photos, whereas GoPro is better for videos. I have heard that you can get a view finder add-on for GoPros in order to do still photos.
JOEL D
Dont have a go pro but this one is a tried and true design made for diving. Works well for me!
ROGER M
An SL507 is a better choice as a comparison to a Go-Pro. It has a good light fo underwater video. It also does single shots. The camera does not open so it cannot be flooded. If you go go-pro you will m
Need a light and a red filter and some other items like a light bar.
CHRISTOPHER L
Go pro extremely light and compact easy to travel with. You do have to purchase a housing tray for it and rig some high lumen lights to get better video and photo. If your shallow, usually enough light in clear water. A red lens is highly recommended anything more then 15 feet.
The SeaLife is very durable, but the housing is bulky and heavy. It does come with a tray housing. Highly suggest the strobe versus the video light for better pictures. With that said, I attach my GoPro on top of my SeaLife for video purposes and use SeaLife camera for still shots. Should only commit to one video/camera source, but they both have negative and positive usage points as mentioned.
STEPHANIE W
I have not personally used a GoPro but have been diving with a group where some have used it. They tend to set the GoPro on a continuous setting...take thousands of pics and then sort threw them. I prefer to take the photos and videos I want. I have been extremely happy with this camera.
TODD A
It is beneficial if taking pictures in darker areas and at greater depths. More bulk to deal with during the dive.
ROGER M
Most of my friends use go-pro for video for offroad motorcycle in Colorado mountains or South Dakota. They use it for underwater video but think it is too much messing aroun for pictures. The best all in one is sealife SL507. It has the light you need for underwater and is all enclosed so you can't flood it. Check it out to see if it is what you are looking for, as it does video and stills. If you do go with go pro you will need a red filter and a good light. There is a scuba shop that goes to Our World Under at the Rose Mount in Chicago that specializes in underwater Go-Pro setups. It is in Feb every year and you can see both cameras and get all your questions answered and still buy from Leisurepro. All the dive resorts are there with their yearly specials.

Much Better. I ve been using this for 2.5 years now over 60 dives. It makes better videos if you have the proper lighting. Sometimes I need the help of my SOLA 2000. I put my HERO for sale after my second dive with Sealife. I NEVER used the flash light option underwater. We are mainly diving Pacific North West in green and dark areas and this makes great photos. I could send you some pictures if you want to see.
GARY M
This is a totally different animal, Hand held so you cant attach it to a fixed position, however I think the video is better and it makes for a great torch on a night dive
JEFF D
Two entirely different products. DC1400 will provide better lighting and remove the reds at depths. The GoPro will take more and quicker pictures and is easier to maneuver but will not provide the best lighting at depths.
STANLEY S
There is no comparison. Size and usefulness. Save mental effort! Buy A GO PRO .I spent over a grand on Sea Life . Gave it to my Daughter who is a Master Scuba Diver instructor as a hobby and lives inHonolulu. She sold it for pennies on my dollar and uses a Go PRO in all her trips.

Which case do you recommend for this camera? I see you have a 3 available.

This one is nice: http://www.leisurepro.com/p-sscb/sea-sea-soft-camera-bag.

Is the lighting here a flash or strobe?
STEVE B
Strobe
CHRISTOPHER L
It is a light. Very high output.
GARY M
No flash, either on or off. Hard to use for stills. But great video.
ROGER M
Strobe as far as I know. This is more like a video light with only 500 lumens. You have a choice of 3 brightness settings but you control this manually, it does not flash with the camera. Your best option is probably the Sea Dragon Duo (item sl737) If you buy this camera there is an upgrade to 2. (something). Hope this helps. Talking to the Sea Life rep is a big help. The camera does a great job but takes some direction in setting.
JIM S
No, it is a video light, more like an underwater flashlight. It can be turned on and off while underwater. I have the old version of their flash, but they came out with a new design. You might want to check it out.
VLADIMIR I
Hi, this here on the picture is Strobe light. The FLASH is a bit bigger and when you look at the glass window looks Square. Here is an example of FLASH http://www.leisurepro.com/p-us19021q/sealife-sl961-digital-pro-flash
YAN G
This is a constant on video light, not a flash/strobe.
Here is the strobe set: http://www.leisurepro.com/p-slfdc14ps/sealife-sl725-dc1400-pro-set.

What lighting system can be used for lower money and also effective....plz let me know ?
KATHLEEN Q
frankly- you don't need any light source- even flash - if you are doing basic diving - I have been using it for 2 years and only needed light once- deep with a very overcast day. the pictures are wonderful and so is the video - I bought the light to video with - but haven't needed that either - don't spend the extra money- Last few dive trips I haven't even brought them with me. LOVE the camera - have fun!
GARY M
I've used this item as shown, it has been fantastic for video. As priced you cant get anything at a lower cost

What is the quality of the still image of this camera ?
GITA S
Thus far we've brought the camera on one diving trip and thought that the still photos were very good.
STANLEY S
Purchased this camera because diving in Cozumel and moved to North Shore
Oahu Hawaii. Sorry to say a little GO PRO is easier to use ,tiny and takes fantastic pictures. Gave it to my daughter, back in the case, closet or maybe she sold it! I HOPE !!!
TODD A
Images are good. If you have an iPhone, I would recommend you look into getting a waterproof case and try it out first, depending on the depth you are diving.
VALERIE N
definitely use the external flash or another strobe to bring out the colors you lose at depths below 20 feet.
VALERIE N
I found the quality of the still image to be great. Buoyancy control is key under the water, of course. I'm very happy with my purchase.
STEPHANIE W
excellent still images on both land and underwater
WILLIAM D
Very good as long as you stay within 2-3 ft away and get used to learning how to aim the strobe. I am very satisfied with mine.. I am very impressed with how long the battery lasts. I get 3 dives before having to recharge the battery.Same applies to the strobe. The battery on my Olympus goes dead half way thru the dive..
CHRISTOPHER L
Sorry to say, but think the images could have been better quality considering the price. I went with the light versus the strobe so not sure if enough light to capture true colors. Also after more research, a red lens really helps with contrast at depths. Think the price covers the cost of the housing because Sealife camera just didn't produce the pics I wanted. The video was pretty good, but still not spot on. Set up is okay for snorkeling because it is heavy duty convenient for shallower depths, not for deeper dives below 60 feet.
JOEL D
I would say its about like any of the other cameras similar I have used in the past
ROBERT M
I used this camera in February and i had great success with it. Make sure you have the right sd card because if you have the wrong one your video won't work right. The still photos came out great.
Zahirul I
Hi Robert
Can you suggest me for the lighting strobes, price and what I should use ?
Also the the one is with the camera is video light...so is that within the package ? or have to buy ? So I need to know the price
Would be helpful for me .
very much.
CRAIG R
Excellent
JIM S
As always, quality is a personal perspective. I am very satisfied with the quality of my photos. When I take the time to set things up they are great, and when I take a quick shot they are very acceptable. Take the time to familiarize yourself with the camera and it's functions and take a lot of practice photos.
Zahirul I
Dear Jim
Thanks for the answer
Ok I agree. Now I want to know the lighting system...how much I have to spend ? whch lighting strobe. ?
Plese let me knwo
JIM S
I have the older model strobes made by Sealife, they came out with a newer model. They work okay, not real powerful. A lot depends on the type of photos you take. I have taken photos with both the video light and strobe and have had good results. If you are looking at cost I would suggest going with just a single strobe and then get the video light. I would also check out the newer models of both made by Sealife.
CARRIE S
Excellent, liked it so much my dive partner bought the same one.
Zahirul I
Thanks Carrie,
I just also need to know the price of the light and strobe both side. l
