Comments about Sealife SL725 DC1400 Pro Set:
The camera is user friendly, and designed for beginners ONLY. I would not recommend this for anyone else. If you understand slightly more than the basics of photography this point and shoot camera has very little capability to change shutter speed or aperture in manual mode. It is easy to just pick a preset mode and dive, which can be nice. I would say it takes decent photos, but you must have a working external flash. Light is essential! The external flash designed for this camera rarely fires when you want. The plastic mold used to guide the flash fiberoptic cable to the internal flash is designed very poorly. I was patient with the unit, bought almost all the accessories over time, and trouble shot the external flash to death. You can spend more time trouble shooting the flash under water than enjoying the dive. I would not recommend this set up to other divers interested in under water photography. By paying a just a little more now for a higher quality underwater set up, you will get so much more in the long run.
Comments about Sealife SL725 DC1400 Pro Set:
The camera is idiot proof, anybody can operate this thing and get decent photos. NOT the thing if you are looking for a very good camera, this is for casual photographers (such as me).
The cons are that sometimes the settings don't change after you change them, e.g I turned the in-built flash off and it kept flashing, etc.
Also, even with everything connected properly, the strobe didn't go off sometimes. Even my instructor was baffled.
Easy to white-balance, and you can change the aperture and shutter-speed easily too. I prefer having a higher shutter speed as I dive in areas with currents, and holding the camera steady is not always easy, hence pics can turn out blurry.
Something I like a lot is the automatic color-compensation. Just enter whether you will take it snorkelling or diving and it will automatically add red hues back into the photos.
All in all, pretty average camera.
