About Scubapro MK25/S600

The Scuba Pro MK25/S600 Regulator, SCUBAPRO has been the leader in the evolution of piston controlled first stages since its beginning; the MK25 carries on this heritage with an array of patented features ensuring unfailing performance. The MK25 is a balanced piston first stage, SCUBAPRO's absolute top performer. It is a superior regulator thanks to its ultra stable intermediate pressure resulting in an extremely punctual and constantly high delivery of air. This means instant airflow at any tank pressure and water temperature for a real carefree dive.

Air balanced flow-through piston- First stages with air balanced pistons deliver significantly more air to the second stage than any other first stage, while their performance is totally unaffected by the changing tank pressure. A balanced piston allows the use of lighter and more sensitive components, resulting in ultra fast breathing response, instant delivery of air on demand, and extra high air flow, especially in low tank pressure ranges. The tired diver benefits from a smoother breathing regulator during the ascent or deco stop. Balanced piston first stages are the first choice of demanding sport divers and professionals. A balanced piston performs equally in warm and cold water environments.

The MK25 has two opposite high pressure ports- The arrangement of high and low pressure hoses is crucial to diving comfort. Two opposite high pressure ports allow for an individual positioning of the first stage (pointing up or down). This allows the diver to position the gauges either on the right or left side and increases the freedom of movement for head and neck. Multiple low pressure ports- For ultimate freedom in the arrangement of low pressure hoses, the MK25 accommodates five HF (high flow) ports on a swiveling turret, which allows for 360 degree swivel of hoses. High flow ports deliver about 15% more air than conventional ports. Externally adjustable intermediate pressure- Allows authorized SCUBAPRO service technicians to quickly fine-tune and adjusts the first stage after maintenance without the need to disassemble it.

Cold Water Diving with SCUBAPRO-Diving conditions can be drastically different, including extreme cold water and outside temperatures, posing the possibility of a regulator "freezing". Therefore, resistance to freezing is imperative for the diver. All SCUBAPRO regulator systems are CE approved for 4300psi (300 bars) cold water diving. Some models go even beyond this super stringent qualification and have successfully been tested in extreme cold diving conditions at less than 36°F (2.2°C). As a specific anti-freezing measure, SCUBAPRO engineers have designed a patented finned cap for the MK25 first stages for optimal cold water diving. This finned cap is a Thermal Insulating System (TIS). The ribs of the TIS act as a radiator to increase the surface area of heat transfer from the water to warm up the internal parts that have been drastically cooled down by the gas pressure drop. The MK25 is manufactured from Marine-Grade Chrome Plated Brass. The MK25 First Stage offers a Machined, Marine-Grade Chrome Plated Body and Balanced Composite/Stainless Steel Flow-Thru Piston that would make any diver proud. It demonstrates SCUBAPRO's dedication to quality and creating positive diving experiences.

Because of the S600's Versatility, it can meet the diver's needs as frequently as the diver changes dive sites. The S600 is constructed of a Chrome-Plated Brass and Techno-Polymer Valve Housing, a Linear Air-Balancing Valve, and a top notch Air-Balancing System. This regulator's Air-Balanced Linear-Flow Valve allows the diver to use Less-Energy while Breathing Underwater; it makes breathing during a dive as simple as well, breathing in and out.

The S600 has a Diver Adjustable Inhalation Control that enables personal Adjustment of Breathing Effort. The S600's Diver Adjustable VENTURI Initiated Vacuum Assist (VIVA) Dive/Pre-Dive Control Switch and Extra High Flow Exhaust Valve account for Easy Inhalation & Exhalation at any Depth or Breathing Rate. The Regulator comes equipped with a 3/8" threaded Super-Flow Hose for Smooth Air Delivery. Precision Molded, Lightweight Components and Anti-Freeze Materials provide High Corrosion Resistance and Enhance Cold Water Performance. The Second Stage is equipped with a Comfortable Orthodontic Mouthpiece. The Regulator weighs 35.9 oz (1,018g) comes with an Owner's Manual and a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Buyereware - servicing costs are insane

We bought 2 sets of s600/mk25 regs 2 years ago and are generally satisfied with the quality and performance of the product. HOWEVER, we had the first service done at a LDS at cost of a few pennies shy of $300 (yes, almost THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS) for this service. Never again will I buy any scubapro equipment again.

Very easy breather

I have been using this first and second stage reg for several years. It is a very easy breather; like breathing out of the water. I get it serviced, but have never had a problem between services. No free-flow problems.

Did not meet expectations

By

My expectations for the product given the many positive reviews and magazine reviews were high. Almost all of my dives are self guided. I am a mechanical engineer and an equipment fanatic. The MK25 frst stage is excellent and gets a 5 star rating for performance, connection locations, design, manufacturing fit and finish and heavy duty construction giving high confidence of reliability and durability. You can not go wrong with this first stage as it could easily be your first choice first stage for over a decade to come. The S600 Reg has a good reputation and has adjustable flow resistance and a pre dive/dive selector knob. Both of these features performed fine and feel smoothe and solidly built. Air flow at any depth and or high exertion high flow need performed perfectly. If you are a big diver , dive deep and or exert yourself underwater this baby can deliver the air. Now the bad and the ugly: The fit and finish were not what they should have been. There were small threads of rubber caught under two of the pins that hold the front plate in place. Joints in the plastic housing were not uniform. The small removable cover on the underside of the reg had a sharp rough edge potruding to the extent that I filed it smoothe before first use. none of these were serious, but made me wonder about the precision and quality of the parts that mater. The mouthpiece did not suit me at all and is a must change. Too big and too intricate and the material feel is average. Between the stiff scuba pro hose and this mouthpiece you may find yourself holding the reg in place with your hand to give your jaw a rest - I did. The reg bubble discharge was terrible from a noise, size of bubble and location of bubble standpoint. I have never noticed this as even a possible problem in decades of diving having owned and used many regs over the years. This is my first negative review of a piece of equipment ever. I almost forgot because not an issue with any other reg. The worst purging reg I have ever used. The purge is easy to operate, but once you have water in the reg it will spit water for a long long long time. If practical you need to have it in your mouth when you enter the water and keep it there until your done. Really bothersome. This rivals the bubble problem for worst performance item of the reg.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  what is difference between mk25evo and mk25? Thanks
MARK R  MK25evo, is a new and improved varient of the time tested MK25/S600 that I have. They breath about the same, but the evo has better cold water performance against ice-up. If you are a warm water diver, I'm not sure the extra money is worth while, and unless you are doing heavy underwater work, the lesser regulator would be a good bet. Mark from Oregon
Frank L  Evo just has the new XTIS thermal insulating system. Better for cold water.
EDUARDO R  Sirs, this equipment is yoke?
MIKE C  Yes it is yoke.
Kasia W  This is a yoke regulator.
DAN H  Yes it is yoke To my understanding you can get 1st stage in either yoke or din. Hope this helps
EDWARD K  Yes this is a yoke version it is also available in din with a different # I hope this helps.
SAM S  Yes. The turn screw tightens the regulator to the cylinder and a gasket assures the seal. As oppose to the DIN which screws on to the cylinder.
Shopper  is this available in a din?
