About Scubapro Knighthawk BCD with Air 2 Alternate Inflator

Designed for male divers, the Knighthawk BCD boasts of having a low profile, backpack-style harness system, integrated weight system, and back-mounted buoyancy. A robust and comfortable back flotation jacket that integrates numerous performance features to deliver outstanding comfort and easy handling. The Knighthawk's retractable air bladder offers ultimate streamlining and significantly reduces drag. The Knighthawk is equipped with Scubapro's Air2 Breathable Inflator, has two rollup zippered pockets, Four Stainless Steel D-rings for attachment of accessories, a sturdy Stainless Steel Tank Attachment System, and a comfortable neck roll of soft neoprene with a special foam back pad, making it the BCD of choice.

Back flotation technology positions air bladder in the back, providing exceptional freedom of movement around chest and shoulders. Streamlined air cell technology and automatic volume control of air cell through compression straps provide a low profile throughout the dive. Rotating Quick Release shoulder buckles and adjustable shoulder straps, adjustable sternum strap and waist strap with cummerbund all improve fit. All these straps are equipped with squeeze-style" quick release buckles for easy donning and doffing.

Soft neoprene neck roll and padded back pad provide skin-friendly padding. Firmly padded, flexible cummerbund compensates for changes in the suit resulting from varying depths. Ergonomic harness incorporates anatomically-shaped components to allow for even load distribution. Quick-release integrated weight system offers more comfort and convenience. Pouches accommodate from 10lb to 12lb (4.5kg to 5.5kg) each (depending on size) and are secured in specially-designed pockets with oversized buckles. Two rear trim pockets counterbalance front weights and provide a well-balanced swimming position with 10lbs (4.5kg) capacity. Built-to-last from 1000-denier nylon outer bladder and 420-denier nylon inner, with urethane laminate interior and radio frequency (RF) welded seams for maximum resistance to punctures and abrasion. The BCD provides 33.7lbs to 44.9lbs (15.3kg to 20.4kg) of lift depending on the sizes, The Knighthawk weighs from 8.4lbs to 9.24lbs (3.81kg to 4.19kg) which is also size dependent. BCD comes with a 3/8" threaded low pressure quick-disconnect hose, owner's manual, is black in color and is covered by a 24 month limited warranty.

The Knighthawk BCD comes equipped with Scubapro's AIR2 Breathable Inflator. When you took dive lessons you learned to perform specific skills to make you safe and comfortable underwater and at the surface. One of those skills was buoyancy control. Once you start diving for fun you use your buoyancy control devise constantly throughout the dive. Your octopus or alternate air source devise on the other hand is never used unless there is an emergency out-of-air situation. Reacting properly in an out of air situation can make the difference between an eventful dive and a tragedy. If your alternate air source and your BCD inflator devise are one and the same you will always know where to find it in an emergency. AIR2 is more than a simple inflator. Its components design takes advantage from the best regulator technology to guarantee maximum efficiency and reliability. As an inflator AIR2 provides perfect pressure control for a great buoyancy management. Ergonomic shape makes it easy-to-handle in any circumstances and it can be emptied by simply pressing the exhaust button.

AIR2's air balanced power inflator provides smooth and reliable inflation at all tank pressures. Single hose configuration eliminates the need for a separate alternate air source. Fixed VIVA flow vane for safe and uncomplicated use one-hand operation for instinctive and simple operation the self-flushing mechanism requires just one push on the purge to clear away all dirt. The AIR2 uses a classic downstream valve for less maintenance and reliability. The housing is a precision molded carbon fiber and techno-polymer impact resistant design that weighs 6.7 oz (190 g). The AIR2 comes with a 3/8" threaded 27.56" (70 cm) high-flow low-pressure hose; owner's manual and is covered by a limited lifetime warranty.

I have maybe 75 dives in this BC and with the exception of a front center clip breaking on my first dive (before evening getting in the water) it has beeb flawless. The design keeps everything in close so wreck diving is a cynch. Lite enough to make it comfortable for recreation drift dives and functional enough to use inspecting bridge supports or welds. How ever as far as warmth goes(though I have never relied on my BC for warmth) it is not warm. Over all good product. I will buy another when I need it. Also my wife dive a LadyHawk and finds it equally enjoyable and she did not suffer a broken fastner.

As noted by many other divers, it will keep you busy at the surface. After a tiring swim and dive, the last thing you want to do is keep kicking, or leaning way back all the time. If you have a lot of weight in the pockets, you are going over face down , period. The back inflation works great at depth and throughout the dive, until you surface. Now, I have to buy another BCD.

I have logged over 600 dives on my Nighthawk BCD and haven't had a problem one with it. My other two BCD's are the ScubaPro Glide and Scubapro Ladyhawk. I have not used the other two but I loan them out to friends and have never had a complaint when they use them.

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

          Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
GEORGE F  This BC is primarily a back flotation BC made of durable 1000 denier nylon. It's easy to adjust and eliminate unwanted pressure on the chest. The integrated weight pockets are roomy and easy to reach. The AIR 2 streamlines the equipment by eliminating the need for a separate octopus. There's plenty of dump valves and D-rings. The Sure-Cinch tank band is the best I've ever used...my tank never slips.
Richard R  I dont really fit into the size chart all that well. Looking for help... I am 5-8, 190 lbs, with a 35 inch waist... Would that be a medium or a large?
Frank L  Depends on what exposure protection you are planning on wearing. Start by trying on a Medium. We do have the PFF, so if it doesn't fit, we can email you a return label to exchange it for a different size in the same BCD (lower 48 only).
Ray H  Is this product good for tech diving? I need a bcd that can maintain all of the knighthawk's pros and still be good for tech diving?
RICK B  I don't see why not, but I don't do tech diving.
