About Scubapro Knighthawk BC, Black

Designed for male divers, the Knighthawk BCD boasts of having a low profile, backpack-style harness system, integrated weight system, and back-mounted buoyancy. A robust and comfortable back flotation jacket that integrates numerous performance features to deliver outstanding comfort and easy handling. The Knighthawk's retractable air bladder offers ultimate streamlining and significantly reduces drag. The Knighthawk is equipped with Scubapro's Balanced Power Inflator, has two rollup zippered pockets, Four Stainless Steel D-rings for attachment of accessories, a sturdy Stainless Steel Tank Attachment System, and a comfortable neck roll of soft neoprene with a special foam back pad, making it the BCD of choice.

Back flotation technology positions air bladder in the back, providing exceptional freedom of movement around chest and shoulders. Streamlined air cell technology and automatic volume control of air cell through compression straps provide a low profile throughout the dive. Rotating Quick Release shoulder buckles and adjustable shoulder straps, adjustable sternum strap and waist strap with cummerbund all improve fit. All these straps are equipped with squeeze-style" quick release buckles for easy donning and doffing.

Soft neoprene neck roll and padded back pad provide skin-friendly padding. Firmly padded, flexible cummerbund compensates for changes in the suit resulting from varying depths. Ergonomic harness incorporates anatomically-shaped components to allow for even load distribution. Quick-release integrated weight system offers more comfort and convenience. Pouches accommodate from 10lb to 12lb (4.5kg to 5.5kg) each (depending on size) and are secured in specially-designed pockets with oversized buckles. Two rear trim pockets counterbalance front weights and provide a well-balanced swimming position with 10lbs (4.5kg) capacity. Built-to-last from 1000-denier nylon outer bladder and 420-denier nylon inner, with urethane laminate interior and radio frequency (RF) welded seams for maximum resistance to punctures and abrasion.

For proper buoyancy control the Knighthawk BCD comes standard with Scubapro's Balanced Power Inflator and has a 3-dump deflation system that enables divers to dump air from a variety of underwater positions. In the up-right position you can use either the left-or-right shoulder pull-dumps with the right shoulder pull cord or the left shoulder integrated cable activated power inflator shoulder dump. When inverted in the water the lower left rear pull dump can facilitate buoyancy trim. Scubapro's Balanced Power Inflator provides a high inflation speed, especially at depth. Inflator has different shaped inflation and purge buttons for easy use even in extremely low light or murky water conditions. The BCD provides 33.7lbs to 44.9lbs (15.3kg to 20.4kg) of lift depending on the sizes, The Knighthawk weighs from 8.4lbs to 9.24lbs (3.81kg to 4.19kg) which is also size dependent. BCD comes with a 3/8" threaded low pressure quick-disconnect hose, owner's manual, is black in color and is covered by a 24 month limited warranty.

I have maybe 75 dives in this BC and with the exception of a front center clip breaking on my first dive (before evening getting in the water) it has beeb flawless. The design keeps everything in close so wreck diving is a cynch. Lite enough to make it comfortable for recreation drift dives and functional enough to use inspecting bridge supports or welds. How ever as far as warmth goes(though I have never relied on my BC for warmth) it is not warm. Over all good product. I will buy another when I need it. Also my wife dive a LadyHawk and finds it equally enjoyable and she did not suffer a broken fastner.

I researched a lot before buying this BCD. I read all the reviews on Leisurepro and this is my 2 cents. This BCD is very confortable fits well. I'm 5'9" 180 and a medium works for me. The design is funtional and has everything I wanted, however. Under the water it preforms like a champ and I was very happy, but I have to agree with the other posters that said it is very hard to backfloat on surface. I tried adding air, decreasing air, leaning further back ect... To no avail. Granted it was fairly rough water with large swells. While waiting on the dive boat it took considerable energy to stay on my back. . Over all, if I could go back I would pick a different one for this reason.

Comments about Scubapro Knighthawk BC, Black:

Yes it's well made, adjustable, with anough quantity of metal d-rings, has plastic handle which is supercomfortable to carry with when you move it with a heavy tank, up to 18 L or 2x12 L tank support, and even has soft back for some reason. But for me is's pretty bulky and nomatter how tight I tried to adjust straps, my 7+7mm wetsuit under water made them loosen. Just not my BC

Comments about Scubapro Knighthawk BC, Black:

After reading most of the comments I am surprised that more DiveMasters have not chimed in. I have 3,000 dives on my NightHawk and it has performed flawlessly without a single incident. I have used it in caves, wreck diving, cold water, and for the last six years close to everyday in the Caymans. I have had several ScubaPro BCD's of various types for my students and they too are flawless. All my regs are also ScupaPro the 600/MK25 and 700/MK17. I have close to 4,000 dives on the 600/MK25. As long as you take care of your gear and get it serviced it will last a lifetime.

Comments about Scubapro Knighthawk BC, Black:

This BCD is rugged yet streamlined. For those who pitch forward too much when using a back inflate I can offer two solutions. Either use less inflation or dive with a steel. Aluminums are too buoyant and therefore can cause you to pitch forward when using any back inflate. This is my fourth Scubapro BCD and by far my favorite. I have dived with several other manufactures but Scubapro is the best around.

              Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
THOMAS S  Scubapro reputation, always wanted a back inflater, recommended by Sport Diver magazine, freedom of movements with hands and arms
Shopper  I have a mares tight fitting jacket bc. The nighthawk concerns me that the area to the rear of where integrated wieghts go sticks out like wing and will produce drag?.
Steve S  That will not happen. This BC will curve around your sides and be nice and fitted.
Shopper  Am looking for something to fit a 56 inch chest ! Will this fit or can you advice me on what mite ? Thank you
ROLLIN E  My chest measurement is about 52-53 inches (from a life foolishly spent lifting weights). I have a xxl Knighthawk, and it has about 6 inches of strap left when I have it tightened. Again, I have a fairly mutated body, so the waist strap had to be taken in to fit me. I would suggest a xxl. Given Leisure Pros real easy return policy its no big deal to order a couple of sizes and see how it fits.
