About Scubapro Classic BCD, Black/Grey

The Stabilizing Jacket remains the BCD style choice of experienced divers because of its dynamic control system. Stabilizing Jackets reject the idea of air bladders within BCDs; instead, they use internal air passages that basically embrace the diver and allow air to remain dynamic inside the jacket. This air flows freely to the jacket's highest point, which allows the diver to basically rotate around a bubble. This adds stability and creates ease of motion for the diver. As divers around the world will attest, this design's attributes have made the Stabilizing Jacket the most widely-used BCD of all time. The new Classic combines the best features past and present. This version incorporates a new look and radio frequency (RF) seam welding technology with Scubapro's unbeatable rugged performance the Classic is known for. Discerning divers will appreciate details like the easy-access chest pockets.

The Classic is equipped with the super cinch tank band Scubapro's stainless steel cam action buckle system for easy adjustment and secure grip. The Air cell is made from 420-denier nylon with a polyurethane coating that is puncture resistant. Quick-release integrated weight system offers more comfort and convenience. Pouches accommodate from 10 lbs. to 12 lbs. (4.54 kg to 5.44 kg) each (depending on size) and are secured in specially-designed pockets with oversized buckles. Two rear trim pockets counterbalance front weights and provide a well-balanced swimming position with 8 lbs. to 10 lbs. (3.6 kg to 4.54 kg) capacity. 6 stainless steel D-rings for long-life heavy wear & tear allow accessory attachments and 2 zippered and 2 hook and loop pockets provide plenty of storage space for gloves, light, dive tables and more. Knife mounting grommets makes an emergency or utility knife easily accessible in any situation.

The Classic has a padded back pack that is fast drying for ultimate comfort in and out of the water. Fully Adjustable Cummerbund immediately adapts to different morphologies and suit thicknesses on the spot a stainless steel latch buckle and nylon webbing belt along with an adjustable sternum strap with squeeze-style" side release buckle make donning and doffing quick and easy.

The Classic BCD comes standard with Scubapro's Balanced Power Inflator and has a 3-dump deflation system that enables divers to dump air from a variety of underwater positions. In the up-right position you can use either the left-or-right shoulder pull-dumps with the right shoulder pull cord or the left shoulder integrated cable activated power inflator shoulder dump. When inverted in the water the lower right rear pull dump can facilitate buoyancy trim. The Classic BCD provides 27 lbs. to 67 lbs. (12.25 kg to 30.4 kg) of lift depending on size and weighs 9.22 lbs. to 11 lbs. (4.18 kg to 5 kg). BCD comes with a 3/8" threaded low pressure quick-disconnect hose and owner's manual.

Tight around the neck and shoulders

Got this on sale for a great price. I really wanted to like it because it had everything I wanted and then some. I just could not get over the tight fit around the neck and shoulders. I am a fit 6-2 220 lbs (was a swimmer in college) and the XL BCD squezed the front of my neck and shoulders with my arms at 90 degs off my chest. If I went to a XXL it would have been way to big in the waist. I'm holding onto it while I order another traditional-style BCD (not jacket) that should fit my bui...

Love this BCD.

from 94611, CA, US

It's not a travel BCD, is heavy, but I don't care. I love this BCD and I take it with me every time. Great companion.

Great BC

I have used the Scubapro Classic BCs for many years. This is the "new" Classic and it is great also. Superior construction. I like the jacket style.

Was expecting same in the photo, what came is d latest model

Using the same BCD for 12years still work thr same as I bought it... just got faded

I would buy this product again and again

I've bought this type for 2 . it's really great desine for all divers.

makes me look good!

This is a great piece of equipment...couldn't believe the value at closeout price. fit, weight placement, and control are great with this BC- as I said, it makes me look good- not in a fashion sense, but as a solid, balanced, in control diver- which is pretty sweet for a 51 year old newbie!

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
ELIAS A  This BCD by Scubapro is heavy and klutzy, I got rid of mine.
JOHN G  was on sale that I used as a gift
John L  Is the cummerbund in this BC removable or is it permanently stitched in? Thanks
DAVID W  It is removable..
dex d  It could be removed easily... BCD is very durable and gives very good bouyancy. So far its the best jacket type BCD for Me.
WILLIAM W  stitched in, but somewhat adjustable. excellent BC!
Paul L  How easy is this bc to get on/off before or after a dive? The jacket style bc I have now is easy to put on since it has the plastic clips you can use to make it snug. After using it for 16 years I'm looking for an upgrade.Just want to able to put it on and take it off by myself. Paul in Colorado
JOEL B  I absolutley love my bc for choice,I dive off kayak and put my bc on in water, and sometimes boat dive and never had any problem putting vest on,everything fits very organized and bc can lift x-large bag of scallops off bottom that's huge, very tough and would purchase another if need be,but I feel this is a life long vest and is worth the extra money. Joel
CHRISTIAN K  Hey Paul, Thanks for your question. I'm an avid diver, based in Florida. I love this bc. I've had it since 2010 and I've never looked back. Holds up great, looks great, functions beautifully. I have only used this bc for recreational diving; not intended for tech diving. I never have any issues with fit/snugness. There are straps loosen/tighten fit. I can easily take it on and off on my own; I just have to slide it a little lower on one shoulder and bend my knee to set the bc/tank on the ground after a dive. Donning/doffing without a buddy has never been an issue. In my experience, the more plastic quick-release clips a bc has (for any function other than dropping weight), the less it holds up over the years as the parts can become brittle. HOWEVER, it's worth noting that I'm 6'2", 165 lbs, and average build. This bc may not be the right fit for someone significantly larger, smaller, or heavier. While the strong composite design of the bc makes it more durable, it sacrifices some of the flexibility of other one-size-fits-all models. Hope this helps! Christian
STEPHEN W  Paul, No problems for me. Arm holes are big. I have had both styles and find that both are easy to don and remove. This jacket seams to run a little larger than other brands , so if you are in between sizes, go with the smaller one. Todd
DOUGLAS A  The BC is not difficult to to get on/off before and after a dive. It is difficult to put back on if you remove it during a dive such as when practicing emergency procedures or in training activities especially if you are gloved. It is a heavy BC and that can be an issue when flying and trying to limit baggage weight. Having said the above it is a very comfortable BC and very well made.I use it in wet and dry suit diving in all conditions and really like it.
JEFFREY F  Hi Paul, I love the BC. It is a jacket style and there are no clips to help in putting it on or taking it off. If you have a bad shoulder or limited range of motion with your arms you would probably be best off with a clip release style. The only negative is this BC tends to be heavy when weighted. As for comfort and flotation it is tough to beat. I hope this helps.
Jeff H  This is going to vary greatly from person to person... I've never had a problem getting in or out of it, but some people find it very awkward. If you have the strength to do it, you can lay it down in front of you upside down, reach through the arm holes to grab the tank, and lift it over your head - it's the fastest way to get your gear on, and it looks cool. I'd strongly suggest going to a dive shop and trying one out before buying it if donning and doffing are a concern.
