I purchased and used this light on some cavern dives, and a night dive. Worked flawlessly. Small, very bright, and reliable. I would definitely purchase again. Switch activated so there is no chance of flooding it when turning it on/off underwater. Also has a lock so that it doesn't turn on in transit.

The first Torrent I received as a gift would not turn on under the surface. It worked fine above the surface. I sent it back & Princeton sent me another one (no questions asked). The second Torrent I received worked intermittenly; sometimes the switch would work, sometimes it would not. I can't rely on this light. Maybe the third time is the charm?

Comments about Princeton Tec 280 Lumens Torrent LED Dive Light:

I prefer to night dive with a light in this range rather than really bright lights; I also prefer a relatively narrow beam rather than a wide beam. As I take pictures, I need to be able to turn my light off with one hand -- I need a switch, not two hands to rotate the front bezel. This light fits the bill. I got about 4 hours burn on fresh AA's.

My "con" is that I can't put rechargeable batteries in this light. If anyone knows how, let me know. When I use my rechargeable batteries, I have to force the battery pack in and it is almost impossible to remove.

Comments about Princeton Tec 280 Lumens Torrent LED Dive Light:

I bought this as a replacement to my original Xenon bulb Torrent (115 lumen). The old Torrent worked great and can't be distinquished in size (which is perfect), I just wanted the higher output and LED longevity. The LED version produces a massive amount of light that is very wide. It is my primary night dive light. I am able to cover a wide area when searching for critters and overpower everyone else's lights except those with massive video lights. The ONLY problem with this light is when you are trying to circle a critter with your light to point it out to someone. The beam is so intense and wide that it is hard to see exactly where you are pointing at but all in all I would rather have this light than any other I or any of my buddies have owned.

Went to Caribbean on a 2 week dive trip. Used the flashlight on the first dive. Front lens separated and flooded the light. Was replaced free of charge. Have not had a chance to use the new light.

Comments about Princeton Tec 280 Lumens Torrent LED Dive Light:

I have a home-made forearm mount designed for hands-free use of a torch light. I use to mount my Impact XL on the mount, but this is a backup light and I wanted a primary (brighter) torch light to use instead (as my Princeton Tec Shockwave II is a pistol grip). So far the Torrent has worked wonderfully. Solid, bright light but still compact enough to attach to my forearm mount. I did have a problem with the switch on the first one they sent, but Leisure Pro was very responsive and replaced it. No problems so far with the replacement.

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

                Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
SHERRY P  After much research and discussions with many divers, the size and power is the best match. Many spoke of the fun of a bigger light but gets in the way and is bulky. This light can be placed in the BC for streamlining yet bright enough. Plus LED is a more reliable light win it comes to electronics. No bulb to break or overheat.
                Shopper  overall length ?
Kasia W  Length will be approximately 7 inches.
JAMES J  What is the approx. burn time on rechargeable batteries, e.g., Eneloop 1,900mAh? I need a light that will last at least 2 hours on a charge.
JAMES J  This was my question. I bought one light (Princeton Tec Torrent LED). My rechargeable batteries are very slightly wider (thicker) than regular AA Alkaline. You can't see it, but I've noticed it in some devices. WITH RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES, YOU HAVE TO FORCE THE BATTERY PACK IN AND IT IS VERY HARD TO REMOVE IT AGAIN. The light does work with Ni-MH batteries. So, a warning to those intending to use rechargeable batteries. I'll write a full review after our next trip.
