Helped a friend pick this light. It flooded on the first dive. LP let us send it back for a new one, but it did the same thing on the first dive. This light has a serious design flaw! DO NOT BUY THIS LIGHT!!!

Comments about Princeton Tec 550 Lumens Sector 5 LED Light:

I purchased three of these, two for me and one as a gift. Both of my lights leaked on the first dive. one started to flicker within 10 minutes at less than 50'. Both became intermittent by the end of my dive and I couldn't turn either one off without removing the batteries. The third light was never tested in the water. They didn't flood but had enough water in them to cause problems so it's probably the new switch design. I should have listened to the first review but couldn't believe Princton Tec wouldn't have better quality control.

Comments about Princeton Tec 550 Lumens Sector 5 LED Light:

I bought two of these lights. I took the first one down (in Hawaii) and it became intermittent after 10 minutes, then went out. At the surface, water and rust poured out. The next day I took the second light down, being careful not to over-tighten the housing (per advise read on the internet) and inspecting everything 3 times. It performed the same. It seems the switch has a severe problem.

First one leaked on the first dive. I returned it and got a replacement. The replacement leaked on the first dive. I've had great luck with other Princeton Tec lights, I think this one has an issue with the new switch design

                      Questions about this item:

Shopper  Has the leak issue been fixed with this light?
Frank L  There was a problem with the switch, but Princeton tec did correct that issue, and all the new ones have the update. Can be identified by 40th anniversary sticker on box.
ANDRE R  IS IT THAT THIS SECTOR 5 CAN ONLY GO FOR 3 HOURS ON BRIGHT?
KEVIN F  Correct. The light will burn at 500 Lumens for 3 hours, at which point it will continue to output light but as battery life decreases so will the brightness. 24 hours is the total amount of burn time for a set of fresh batteries.
L W  Does this have the Hi/Low power mode of the miniwave II that it seem to be replacing? Also, what is its beam width?
Frank L  This is a new item, its not in stock, and we have no further information at this time.
