nice light

Nice little light. Burned bright and everyone knew it was me. Used it for an identifying light on my tank for a night dive.

I found it to be not much brighter than a glow stick, and substatially more expensive. I had one of these but it leaked before I got to use it on a night dive. I threw it out, instead of asking PrincetonTec to repair or replace it. Their Aqua Flare is a much better light. It's brighter, similarly priced, and the cone can be removed to use it as a minimal flshlight. A few dollars more will get you a functional light. Skip the Eco Flare.

Good little tank light

Comments about Princeton Tec, Eco Flare:

Bought a couple, me and my buddy have used it on many night dives and it is still running strong on its original battery.

    Some issues I see:

Twisting on/off might be a little hard.

Bulb plugs in to its socket with almost no effort or friction, causing concern that it could just pop out when it gets jolted when jumping into the water, but apparently, I never encountered such scenario.

Conrtrary to what the other review said, this light is negatively buoyant in fresh water (don't think it floats in salt water either), thus it will drop down to the side of the tank or behind the BC, possibly making it no visible during the dive. One can try to use the light's clip to attach it to the BC handle strap so it stands upright (when looped around the tank's valve, but the clip does not snap tight so be sure to loop the lanyard onto the 1st stage's yoke.

Comments about Princeton Tec, Eco Flare:

The plastic bulb cover breaks or cracks easily. While Princeton Tec will replace the light or its parts unconditionally, that does not help when you are preparing to do a night dive and it cracks or does not work.

The replacement light I received would not turn on despite the fact that I changed the bulbs and batteries. I had to send it back. Good thing I have no night dives scheduled or I would be very disappointed.

The problem is that this light is probably the best or only alternative to use as a tank light. That is why I am going to try one more time to get something that might work.

Light manufacturers take heed! A good, reliable tank light would sell.

I have one and bought one for my brother I use it as a backup safety light the out put is low however at night it does give a pretty good blink that can be seen for a good little bit underwater it does good as a marker, while no where near the brightness of a strobe it is smaller, lighter, and burns longer....

Nice reliable light. I've never had a problem. You won't use it to see underwater (you need a real light for that), but its used for safety.

Comes with both a solid white & a red flashing bulb (interchangeable).

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

          Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
ALAN C  Nice small tank light used on night dives. I often clean and lubricate o-ring seal with silcone grease at every battery installation. Do NOT over tight lens may cause cracks in lens cap.
Hollie M  Just put in batteries and nothing is happening. Is there something else I need to do as well?
Roger L  3 items to look at: 1 - Batteries installed correctly in battery housing (+ & -) 2 - Light module only works one way. If light does not turn on, reverse the position of the light module in the battery housing 3 - Unsure that the lens is tightened down all the way to activate the light
L W  I see the burn time for the red flashing LED bulb, which is 500 hrs. But what is the burn time for the white incandescent bulb?
Frank L  Princeton Tec does not give specifications for the Krypton bulb, but do not expect more than 3-4 hours from it.
