Good so far

By NAPALM

This is my first diving hood but after five dives I'm pretty happy with it. It fit me fine without having to do any trimming and has shown no signs of wear. It has kept me warm on dives from 70 to 43 degrees.

Great hood

By Kevin

Great hood! Zipper makes it very easy to get on and off. Very comfortable and the material around the neck makes a good seal with a wetsuit reducing water movement. I have used it in water as low as around 50 degrees F and was nice and warm. Only used it a handful of times so can't comment on how it holds up but I'm very satisfied so far.

The Merino Lined 5mm Hood is a full-featured 5mm wetsuit zippered hood. Built to the same exacting standards as our 7mm hoods, the 5mm Hood is ideal for divers who chill easily in warm water, cool water, and hearty cold-water divers. Constructed from 5mm titanium lined nylon 2 neoprene throughout the head and neck areas, with Pinnacles patented Merino lining throughout. Merino lining adds up to 35% more thermal efficiency then standard neoprene rubber alone. Merion also does not promote the growth of bacteria, making it hygienic and reduces odor. The Hoods seams are glued and flat-lock stitched for strength and durability.

The hood is equipped with a 3mm face seal with smooth skin seal can be trimmed to custom fit the face mask seal. Hood has a non-direct automatic vent that allows air to escape as necessary from the top of the hood while restricting water to re-enter. The 5mm Merino Lined Hood offers greater warmth than most standard 7mm hoods yet is as light and flexible as other manufactures traditional 5mm hood. Ideal for cool to cold waters, the 5mm Merino Lined Hood will keep you warm and comfortable dive after dive. Donning and doffing are made easy with the gusseted rear zipper.

Questions about this item:

JOHN M  Diving in the north east. Do you recommend the 5mm or 7mm?
Laird M  7mm for sure.
TANYA V  7mm definitely. I wear my 5mm in 72 degree water in FL, so I can only imagine the NE water is much colder! Hope this helps!
SUZETTE R  Yes......
JOHN M  Yes... 5mm or 7mm?
SUZETTE R  Sorry,I should've been more specific. The pinnacle 5mm merino lined hood has the same warmth as a 7mm unlined hood without the bulk. Dan
DON H  I wear the 5mm in the high 60's low 70's if your doing repetative dives. Any colder and I would recommend the 7mm. I wear a 5m suit with the 5m hood. Hope this helps.
Shopper  Greetings: My head size is 34 3/4 and my neck size is 16. Should I order an XL? I read the size chart but one of the reviewers said to order the next size up. Much thanks, Glenn
DYLAN B  I ordered per the size chart and I'm happy with my fit. Sorry I can't tell you at the moment what size my head, neck, or hood are though I'm probably on the larger size.
LANCE M  Hello, Sorry it took so long to reply. I bought a large. My head is 23 1/2 and neck is 17 1/2 and the hood is a little tight but I think that is how it is supposed to fit. Hope this helps.
JAVIER H  I went by the chart, and ordered the size that matched my measurements, it's a bit of a tight fit, but not uncomfortable.
MICHAEL R  34 3/4? Is this in inches? That's rather large. If by chance you meant 24 3/4 the xl will be fine. My measurements are 24 1/2 head, 17 neck and the xl fits me fine. This hood is warm, comfortable and the zipper is an added bonus. I've used it in water temps to the mid 50's.
MINDY K  My neck is 13 and my head measured around forehead is 20.5. The large fits me perfectly.
MARK S  I went by the size chart and... it's just a little too snug. The main problem I have is around the neck. I wish my hood was a bit larger. I often feel like it's chocking me!
AUSTIN H  I would definitely get the next size up!
SCOTT G  Yes order the next size up. Mine was to tight. I would even think about two sizes up.
BRIAN T  Glenn, I have the Hood you are inquiring about and initially ordered the XL. I have an 18" neck and it was way too tight. They happily exchanged it for the 2XL which fits great. I would think the XL would fit you but they exchange it if it doesn't.
Shopper  Hi, The relevant circumference of my head is 60cm. I have tall head. Which size is good for me? Thanks, LL
BEN D  I'd go with the xl... I have a large dome that is narrow. Xl worked nicely for me.
ELSIE S  I have a medium - sized head, but ordered a large because hoods I've used in the past have seemed to run a size small and were hard to stretch. The hood is very soft and stretches easily, seals well, and is comfortable. On a larger head I would definitely order an XL.
PANAGIOTIS M  Hi, the circumference of my head is also 60cm and the hood I got is XL, it fits me pretty well. Hope this is helpful for you.
PANAGIOTIS M  Hi, the circumference of my head is also 60cm and the hood I got is XL, it fits me pretty well. Hope this is helpful for you.
DAVE W  This is a great hood - used it in the Galapagos and, if anything, was too warm. I'd go with the XL. I tried the L and it was too snug (my teenage son wore it instead. Or, buy the L and XL and return one after trying it on.
DYLAN B  Leisure Pro offers a PFF Guarantee. Since your head fits into 2 different categories you should probably make an educated guess and just pick one. Worse case, if it won't work, you can exchange for the other size w/o extra shipping charges.
Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
HARRY T  I own 3 mm Pinnacle Merino wool XT Tempo wetsuit. The wool and everything about suit is great including easy on and off and warmth. I'm buying a 7 mm Pinnacle XT wetsuit and 5 mm hood rather than 7 mm as recommended for Southern California diving by sales staff Ben P over chat. I'm hoping zippered is easy to put on. Merino wool is the best. Slides over skin easily as if dry, even if slightly wet.
