Oceanic's Alpha 8 second stage and SP5 first stage produce a low priced, no frills regulator system that offers easy breathing. This regulator is so rugged and economical to maintain (replacement parts are inexpensive) that it's become popular as a rental. It can be used with air or nitrox mixtures up to 40 % right out-of-the-box. The Alpha 8's super sturdy ABS/Polycarbonate housing weighs just 6oz (170g) and measures just over 2.75" (7cm) in diameter. The regulators lightweight and anatomically designed mouthpiece translates into a second stage that won't cause jaw fatigue. The Alpha 8 second stage is a dependable downstream demand valve design.
The SP-5 first stage regulator offers all divers the opportunity to own a top performing regulator. Repeatedly rated as the best in its class, the SP-5 exceeds both Navy Class A and European CE standards. The SP-5 is a non-balanced flow-by piston designed regulator. This simple yet fail safe design will deliver air even if there is a first stage failure. Made of marine grade chromed brass for durability and long life, the SP-5 first stage has 4 LP ports and 1 HP port with 3/8" and 7/16" threads. Regulator weighs 26oz (737.1g), comes with a 30" (76.2cm) 3/8" threaded low pressure hose.
Alpha 8 Octopus: With a bright yellow 36" (91.4cm) LP hose and matching cover, the Alpha 8 second stage is a highly visible octopus (alternate second stage) that is easy-on-the-budget. The Alpha 8 can be used with air or nitrox mixtures up to 40% right out-of-the-box.
The Oceanic Veo 1.0 is a solid basic dive computer designed for air or single gas nitrox mixes up to 50%. It displays only essential information during the dive in easy-to-read digits; uses effective-bar graphs to present nitrogen loading and ascent rate; and offers useful features like an automatic safety stop countdown timer that ticks off three minutes when you ascend to 15' (4.6 meters). A single push button is all that's required to navigate-the-settings and the sequences are Intuitive with help from the excellent owner's manual and waterproof prompt card. At this price point, you are giving up bells and whistles--most notably audible alarms, a backlight and the ability to download dive profiles--but these are excellent choices if you want a simple, low-cost computer.
The Oceanic Veo 1 is powered by Oceanic's exclusive dual algorithm - Your choice between Pelagic DSAT (Spencer/Powell data basis) or Pelagic Z+ (Buhlmann ZHL-16C data basis). The computer is water and/or manually activated, provides time of day display in a 12 or 24 hour format, will automatically adjust for altitude diving from 2,000' to 14,000' (610 to 4,200 meters) and has a 24 hour time to fly countdown function. The computer has a 12 dive on-unit log capacity; pre-dive planning sequence function provides temperature and can be set for imperial or metric units of measure.
The Oceanic Veo 1 computer has a deep stop option, decompression capability for 10' to 60' (3 to 18 meters), variable ascent rate function, nitrogen tissue loading bar graph, numeric percentage oxygen loading, O2 time remaining and is equipped with a user-replaceable CR 2450 battery with an 8-second hot-swap" function to retain calculations during a battery change. The computers operation depth is 330' (100 meters). The Veo 1 Computer comes in a console with a submersible pressure gauge (SPG). The Oceanic's SWIV SPG comes in a durable impact resistant boot with a high pressure hose. The pressure gauge has 0 to 5,000 psi readout with a safety reserve 500 psi color coded in red to allow the diver to know that they are low on air. The gauge case is manufactured from tough glass-filled noryl and the gauge face is durable lexan. The impact-resistant boot has multiple eyelets for attachment of a clip or lanyard to keep the gauge close at hand and from dragging over the environment.
The pressure gauge has a shock resistant bourdon tube mechanism and is equipped with a double Kevlar braided high pressure hose with triple chrome plated marine brass fittings with a 7/16" threaded end. Hose has a 360° swivel end for easy use. The pressure gauge is also equipped with a temperature gauge. Both the pressure and temperature gauge needles tips are colored bright red for easy reading.
The Regulator, Octopus and Computer Console come with owner manuals and are covered by a 24 month limited warranty.
