About Omer Cayman Sport Spear Gun

Cayman Sport features an aluminum barrel. The muzzle allows the use of traditional latex slings with the possibility of using an additional circular sling. Comes stock with a 6.5mm shaft and Power 16.5 slings. The Cayman Handle features ergonomic and mechanically innovative characteristics. The triggering mechanism is highly sensitive and extremely resistant to the traction of the slings. When grabbing the handle, the position of the hand is high in relation to the shaft, allowing quick aiming and great absorption of recoil. The line release is manufactured in die cast stainless steel and positioned on the side, allowing it to be used also with a reel. The safety is also positioned on the side and the reel guide is very slim allowing the space between the reel and the barrel to be reduced to the minimum. The Cayman handle features two chest protectors in different dimensions (interchangeable).

The Cayman Barrel: The Cayman standard barrel is manufactured in heat treated anodized anti-corrosive aluminum and features an integrated shaft guide with an external diameter of 28mm. The tube is manufactured by extrusion and then cold drawn. The geometry of this barrel increases resistance to bending by 20% compared to a standard circular tube. It features PR80 Tahitian 6,5mm shaft, simple wishbone and 16,5mm Top Energy rubber bands. Spear Gun is available in multiple lengths and is covered by a 24 month limited warranty.

Comments about Omer Cayman Sport Speargun:

This is a great first speargun for reef hunting. It is set up identically to most euro guns, which is the setup I perfer. I added a second band without changing the muzzle and changed the wishbone to dynema. I also added a stick on rail. Now this gun is as powerful and accurate as a much more expensive one. I've been using it for a couple of years and the barrel doesn't bend. It is a good inexpensive gun to learn with and easy to modify (and learn how to modify).

Comments about Omer Cayman Sport Speargun:

I got the 90. I guess it's what you'd expect from a cheap gun. The shaft is thin and flimsy, it started bending the first time I used it. Not much range with the one band, and as far as I know you can't add another without replacing the muzzle. The muzzle is closed; I opened it to make it more accurate but it makes it a little difficult to load. On the plus side, this is really light and versatile gun. It's really easy to turn with it in the water; my main gun is a 48" custom wood build and I'd almost prefer the Omer on reefs and rocks because it's easier to swing around quickly.

However, what really makes me not want to recommend this gun is the wishbone. It's an articulated wishbone (metal), and I can't get it to stay attached to the bands. Probably the fourth or fifth time I had the gun in the water, the wishbone started disconnecting from one of the bands when I tried to load the gun. As a result, the thin metal wishbone would snap back towards the muzzle of the gun, often with my fingers in the way. After getting nicked up several times, I took the gun into a shop and got the wishbone replace. Now, THIS wishbone started doing the same thing (although I think it's a faulty wishbone and not because of the gun).

All in all, I'd say save up and get something of more quality.

    Questions about this item:

Vitaly M  what size band/slings go on a omer cayman 60cm?
Frank L  Uses 16.5 bands. Unfortunately, we do not stock the bands at this time.
Shopper  Is the Cayman Sport the same as the Omer Excalibur Sport, just the Cayman is the newer version?
PIETER C  Omer Excalibur is a cheapo version. Mine lasted till one big fish. No fish on the bag, speargun came apart. Be careful what you get.
Shopper  On this gun is it hard to pull the bands back?
JEREMY H  On the regular Cayman 75 it is but not on the sport.
