I ASKED THE SUPPORT HELP WHICH COMPUTER THEY RECOMMENDED FOR THE TYPE OF DIVING I DO AND THEY SELECTED THIS ONE. THEY DIDN'T TRY TO TALK ME INTO A MORE EXPENSIVE ONE. I TOLD THEM I WANTED ONE THAT WOULD GIVE ME THE MOST BOTTOM TIME. SOME REVIEWS STATED THAT WHEN THEY COMPARED THIS ONE WITH THE ONE THEY WERE USING THEIR FIRST COMPUTER WOULD GO INTO DECO WAY BEFORE THIS ONE. I PUT IT ON MY WRIST RIGHT NEXT TO MY SEAQUEST SUUNTO AND THEY WERE EXACT FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. I ONLY GOT TO DO ONE D...IVE WITH IT AND WENT TO ABOUT 130 FEET BUT I DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS READING IT AND IT IS EASY TO GET TO THE OTHER SCREENS. I LIKE KNOWING THE WATER TEMPERATURE SO I HIT THE BUTTON TWICE I THINK AND GOT TO THE SCREEN I WANTED. I HAVE BEEN DIVING WITH MY SEAQUEST FOR AROUND 15 YEARS AND PUSHING IT TO THE LIMIT AND HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS YET.

Yes and you set the time it stays illuminated
THOMAS M
Yes. You hold down the main button, and after about a three second delay it illuminates for about five seconds, to conserve battery life. I find it easier to just flash my light on it with the beam partially covered with my fingers. I have been very pleased with the computer. Ciao.

I am trying to change the battery for my oceanic veo 180. Do I need to change the o-ring too? And where can I get a new o-ring?
KEN W
I never have and I've changed my battery at least a half dozen times. But I would ck it for any nics or imperfections before reinstalling.
DOUGLAS K
That's funny I just did mine. I have three veo 180s and a veo 100 and have changed the batteries many times. It is recommended but I have never done it. I check it and if its in good shape I put some silicone grease on it and call it good. Never had a problem.
KEITH P
no...if it's not damaged just clean it and put a very small amount of silicon on it before replacing

What is the modifed Haldanean algorithm? Is is compatible with the Shearwater Petrel 2 modified buhlman 2HC-16C to Erik Baker gradient factors? I want to use it as a backup computer, but do not want to do two safety stops.

It has "gauge mode" where it only displays depth, dive time and temp..... But that will also lock the computer out of normal "scuba mode" for 24hr.
JEFFREY G
I do not believe it has a specific freediving mode. but, it does let you know the depth. so is that enough? go to oceanicworldwide website and look up the manual and read the stuff and look it over, you can also ask the folks at Oceanic. I know they answer the phone because I called myself.
good luck!

I don't think so - this is a very basic comptuer
