The NEO is comprised of precision-machined components and extensive R&D with the goal of creating a lightweight, high performance regulator Mission Accomplished The NEO features effortless pneumatically balanced breathing paired with a compact over-balanced diaphragm first stage The pneumatically balanced second stage reduces breathing resistance to near zero with a balanced valve seat designed to respond to the slightest inhalation A pneumatically balanced second stage actually has (or can have) the same initial crack opening effort as a mechanically balanced, but the spring force of a pneumatically balanced second stage is lighter so it's spring rate is also lower

Therefore the force required to open the valve farther as flow increases is less than that required for a mechanically balanced second stage with a higher rate spring So the total effort to breathe the pneumatically balanced second stage is indeed less The spring force must be just enough to overcome the difference between downstream air pressure and upstream balance chamber pressure The downstream air travels through a hole in the poppet into the balance chamber and applies an "upstream" force just slightly less than the downstream force Ergonomic A V S (Adjustable VENTURI System) Dive/Pre-Dive Switch designed to be unobtrusive, yet easily manipulated even with the thickest gloves, the A V S deflector vane found in the NEO either diverts airflow from the valve to the mouthpiece, producing effortless VENTURI-assisted inhalation or creates enough resistance to prevent free flow on the surface The NEO was designed using the latest 3-D computer modeling techniques This allows Oceanic the ability to model and test performance while still in the early stages of development. The second stage is made from advanced composite materials ABS/Polycarbonate for rugged durability and light weight Oceanic's lightest second stage at only 5.7oz (161.6g) without the hose. The NEO second stage has an Orthodontic Mouthpiece, 30" (76.2 cm) 3/8" Threaded MAXFLEX Hose and In-Line Swivel that all produce Minimal Jaw Fatigue no matter the length of the dive.

The FDX10 offers a Balanced Diaphragm and is made of Forged Chromed Marine Brass. The Balanced Diaphragm, First Stage Regulator is inherently Environmentally Sealed. The benefit of this type of First Stage design is that none of the Delicate Internal Parts are Exposed-to-Contaminants such as Salt, Sand, Chlorine or Pool Acids. These Environmental Contaminants can cause Corrosion and Mineral Deposits to form on the Internal Mechanism Deteriorating Regulator Performance. A Diaphragm First Stage Regulator requires Less-Maintenance then Regulators that allow the Contaminates to enter the Internal Mechanism.

The FDX10 features DVT (Dry Valve Technology). DVT takes keeping the Internal Components Clean of Contaminates to the Next-Level. DVT is an Innovative Design that keeps Moisture and Contaminants Out-of-the-First Stage, even if you forget to put the Dust Cap-On. Have you ever wonder why they call it a "dust cap" and not a Water Cap. DVT eliminates the possibility of Moisture entering the First Stage with a simple, yet ingenious design. No-Hassle, No-Worries. What about performance? DVT doesn't impact first stage performance even at 198' (60 meters) with just 200 psi (14 bars) in your tank. The result is an end to flooded regulators! Oceanic's exclusive DVT is designed to automatically eliminate moisture intrusion and contaminants from entering your breathing system. This means Internal Components Remain Corrosion and Bacteria Free. Amazing, Simple, Patented, and by the way, DVT is only available on Oceanic Regulators.

In addition the FDX10 First Stage Regulator has a Secondary Diaphragm to completely Seal-Off the Main Spring Cavity. A Sealed.A Sealed Balanced Diaphragm design; ENVIRO Kit and Patented DRT (Dry Regulator Technology) Isolate the Main Spring Cavities Internal Components from the Environment. It also means the FDX10 is excellent for Ice Diving (it won't freeze up) or Diving in Waters Filled-with-Contaminants or Sediment (it won't corrode). First Stage has 4 Low Pressure (LP) and 2 High Pressure (HP) Ports. FDX-10 features optimized air paths and angled hose ports for superior performance and comfort. Regulator comes with an owner's manual and is covered by a 24 month limited warranty.

    I love this regulator. I don't like 2nd stages with manual inhalation adjustments which this doesn't have. It breathes effortlessly and easy at every depth and in every position. Lightweight 2nd stage and very comfortable mouthpiece. Seems to be ruggedly built and should last a long time. Environmentally sealed for cold water diving. For me this is the perfect regulator.

    BARNEY C  I am a repair tech and want to dive a regulator that I will see in for repair in the future. I the past when I have repaired these regulators they seem to be nice breathers.
    Shopper  I'm trying to decide what to get. Why did you pick this one?
    Craig E  I have the same set-up with the exception that I have an EOS 2nd stage, but I have the NEO Octo..! Both have hundreds of dives on them with no wear what-so-ever (I have my regs serviced regularly as well). Maybe your "Divemaster friend" has a misperception of what "he/she" thinks is a great reg. setup, but for me the Oceanic FDX10-DVT and my EOS just plain perform - time after time..!
