As an instructor, I highly recommend this mask. The liquid filled silicone skirt is the key to making this mask probably one of the best masks on the market. Approximately 90% of all my students have had success with this mask whether a basic diver or advance. This is the mask to choose !

Excellent mask. I burned off the manufacturing residue on the glass (yes, I burned it off) after two relatively foggy dives which made the mask perfectly clear with an application of McNett Sea Gold.
Mask has a wide range of vision with an extremely clear view. I'd recommend it to anyone.
It's a mere Shadow of a Mask; Lightweight and low volume, with a soft, comfortable, hypoallergenic black or clear liquid-silicone skirt. Because there is no frame, the Shadow's single lens sits close to the face, offering an unusually wide field of view. Also, because there is no frame, the mask folds into a neat package small enough to slip into a BC pocket, making it an easy to carry as a back-up. The black silicone skirt eliminates light coming in from the sides, which means the Shadow is an excellent mask for hunters and photographers who need to see, well, in the shadows. Does the glass ever touch the center forehead. With some masks I feel pressure and sometimes the glass would press against the center of my forehead. Has anyone had this issue?

Hello Ismael, frame masks will apply pressure in-between the eyes above the bridge of the nose. A Frameless mask design would get rid of that pressure. Since a frameless mask is just the skirt and lens no hard frame to push that area.

Many low-profile, single lens masks do crunch up against different parts of the face, but I have not had that experience with this Oceanic mask. The strap is hard to adjust, but try loosening it a bit. If you still get a good seal at depth, your issue with the lens touching your forehead may become moot. Good luck!

why black over clear?

Preference by the user. Personally, I like black. Things seem more focused and clear by channeling the light and your attention through the glass. With clear silicone, light comes in from all sides and is distracting to me. For some, black makes them feel a bit claustrophobic or tunnel visioned and prefer the clear skirt.
Also, the previous answer. over several years of use, clear can cloud up or change to yellow if not kept out of direct sunlight, cleaned, dried and stored properly. However, cleaning, drying and properly storing your mask will slow down or greatly reduce discoloration. You should do this with all masks anyway, to prolong the life of the product.

I prefer black bc it doesn't change color. Clear tends to get yellow over time.

As a female, how do I know whether to purchase a mini or regular size?

The mini is a smaller mask so has a slightly smaller skirt and would fit a smaller face or narrower face.

Good question!
My wife has a narrow face and has not found a comfortable mask yet. I wear the “regular” size, but have a round face. A mini might be what you need if you have a small face also! I love these masks! They are the only one I use!

Both sizes will probably fit. The difference is in the mask volume. The regular Shadow has a higher profile and more air volume. The Mini sits closer to your face. The mask skirt is very flexible and soft so I imagine both would fit most face shapes. I love the Mini, I've bought several over the years. Because it is low profile, it is also a great skin diving mask.
