VROOM! Speed, Comfort, and Maneuverability; you can have it all with the Vortex V-16. The V-16 combines the Patented Design Concepts divers have come to expect from Oceanic with a new mix of materials that enhance performance and style. Compared to conventional fins, the V-16 is up to 30% Faster and more Efficient, with Less Effort, Stress and Strain resulting in Greater Comfort and Control.

The Oceanic Vortex V16 Split Open Heel Fins are a Precision Blend of Hydrodynamics and Materials Technology for Ultimate Comfort, Efficiency and Performance. Fins are manufactured from a Composite Material consisting of a Blend of Thermal Plastic Rubber (TPR) and Polypropylene. The technological edge is achieved with the Patented Nature's Wing Technology by Splitting the Blade to Generate Highly Efficient Thrust or Lift like an Airplane Wing, while reducing the Strain on the Muscles of the Leg and Hips by allowing the water to drain between the Dual Blades. With the Vortex V-16, Oceanic's design team has worked long and hard to create just the right combination of fin size, shape, and angle.

The Oversized Rails add Rigidity to the Oversized Blade for Increased Lift and Efficiency. Semi-Rigid Battens and Rubber Flex Channels within the Blade Precisely Control the Shape of the Blade during the Fin Stroke to Optimize Power and Reduce Drag. The Ergonomically Designed Foot Pocket accommodates virtually all foot sizes and boot styles and the Angled Blade provide the Preferred Angle of Attack. Donning and Doffing is made easy with the Spring Heel Straps with Large Pull-Tab Thumb Loops in Straps for Grip. The Pull-Tab Thumb Loops also allow a convenient manner to hang your fins when drying and for storage. Comments about Oceanic Vortex V-16 Split Fins with Spring Heel Straps:

I have been using these fins for a while. I am a size 8/9 shoe. I ordered them in Small because the X-Small were too tight. I started using them a NeoSport light shoe, but the fins almost came off because the spring strap did not grip tight enough and the foot cup was too large. I switched to a DeepSee full bootie because the back grip for the fin straps and the toe rubber fitted snugglier inside the foot cup. Even with that, I wear the fin strap high to ensure it does not fall off.

As for the performance, it is great. I do kick softly and the fins do the rest. I have used them in still salt water and currents and work great.

The split fin may bend under and become a hazard when in the boat. I have to watch on this when I step in the boat with the fins on.

I purchased them with dark blue panels. After several dives you could see the gray/white scratches from rocks in the blue panels. The logo also faded after several dives. I guess a light panel color may mask the scratches better.

Make sure do not lose the tab to join the splits, you need it for travel.

Otherwise. It is a great set of fins, worth purchasing.

Comments about Oceanic Vortex V-16 Split Fins with Spring Heel Straps:

Used these on 6 dives so far. I was skeptical of split fins given all the mixed reviews and opinions, but with a little homework and practice, I've found them able to move just as well as my paddle fins but with a NOTICEABLE difference in the amount of air consumed. It's all in the technique and when done right you exert yourself far less. They aren't without a couple of drawbacks though. First, they're pretty heavy, so not great to travel with. Second, I'm not sold on the spring straps, and even though my boots have a notch to keep it from happening, I've already had one come off on entry, which is a problem because it sunk like a rock. Luckily my buddy was able to retreive it, but I could have been out a large chunk of change.

Comments about Oceanic Vortex V-16 Split Fins with Spring Heel Straps:

Bought these for a trip to Grand Cayman and used them for North and West Wall dives. Made 45 minutes on the deep dives (with air to spare) and well over an hour on the shallow 2nd tank. Most time i've gotten out of 80cf tanks and attribute that to the efficiency of the fins. They're not light to lug around, but are sweet in the water.

Very comfortable. Steel spring strap is amazingly comfortable and makes them easy on/off. I have not tried them in a current but they move me with ease in calm to gentle current conditions while wearing a dry suit.

Comments about Oceanic Vortex V-16 Split Fins with Spring Heel Straps:

I have been using these fins for an estimated 12 dives now. From the first time put them on I knew that they were high quality fins. I was a little bit concerned switch to split fins as I have read that it is difficult to perform different kicking methods. These fins allow every method that I have tried.

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
THERESE T  great reviews and I really like the performance. Good price also.
a b  Hi, Would like to check, my shoe size is US11. (Wear High Heel Booty) What size would fit me for V16 ? Require your Help !! Tq Very Much !!
PETER T  I wear a US size 11 shoe and dive in New England in a 7 mm wet suit and 7 mm boots and have been very comfortable with my V-16's for the last 4 years in an X L size. I also have worn these fins when I have been diving in Aruba, Belize, Cozumel and Flordia with a 5 mm boot and have always been very comfortable in them. If they would fit better with my dry suit I'd wear them with that as we'll !
Mary L  The sizing chart link is to the v12 fin. What is the weight do the v16 vs the v12 size XS? Also how stiff is the spring strap? Is it easy to pull off and does it take a very hard tug to get on/off? Thank you.
JULIO CESAR L  not sure about the size, but this fin is anwsome, easy to put on and off, not heavy, you just dont get tired. this is my main fin, use all the time, going to cozumel next week, they are great.
