Comments about Oceanic BioLite Travel BCD:

So nice to pack for travel, saved a ton of space. Performed Great! Didn't miss my pockets at all, plenty of loops to hook things to. Only thing I'd change is tank strap could stand to be a couple inches lower, not a deal breaker though. Selling my old one.

Comments about Oceanic BioLite Travel BCD:

I was looking for a travel BCD with a cool water like buoyancy. I fill it with 18 lbs all the pockets, steel tank and 7mm wetsuit with a hood. No problem descending/ascending, very comfortable fit and finish and super light for travel. This is my only BCD for tropics and Southern California dives. There are some mild concerns about weight pockets design but it is something that I can get used to.
        Highly recommend!

Comments about Oceanic BioLite Travel BCD:

My husband gave me this BCD as a present.
I read that it takes time to get accustomed to use this BCD, and that (because of the air distribution) it puts you face down.

Well, the only trouble I had was in the deflation, because of the air bubbles stuck, but then you get used to make funny movements and the problem is solved.
And about the face down position, it is not truth. You can lay, stand, sit or do whatever you need to do in the position you want to.

It is small and very light, so it's really practical.
And it is so comfy that the first dive I found my self touching it to be sure that I still wearing it.

There is only thing that I would like to be different about my BioLite
              - you can't deflate if you don't detach the hose, and when detached it may be difficult to find.

But overall I consider this a perfect BCD.

Comments about Oceanic BioLite Travel BCD:

This BCD is great for travel but everyday diving can be a bit limited due to no storage pockets. Once you hook all you gear onto this BCD, a diver starts to resemble a christmas tree. This BCD is made very nicely, however, I seen used biolites with the center chest strap torn off and there is no way it can be attached to the shoulder strap again. The quick weight release requires a good finger coordination before the weights can be dumped, something not everyone has during emergencies, thus, I prefer velcro release not this. Also, an issue with holding a tank securely. Overall, you can get it for travel but do get a different BCD for local dives.

                Questions about this item:

Michele D  There are very few reviews on this BC. 4 in total including yours. I would like to know about the tank positioning. There were 2 complaints about the tank hitting the back of the head even after repositioning. Is this true. And I don't under the word "unstable" when turning from side to side. What does that mean. Did the BC shift because of the weight of the tank or something like that?
ROBERT M  Michele, I love this BCD. There are many new lightweight travel BCD's available, but I live in remote alaska and cannot put my hands on them. The dealer up here was trying to get them in stock, but could not. i went solely on the few reviews I could find and Brett H's from LP's recommendation and made the decision to get it. No extra pockets for stuff. It does have limitations due to it's size, but I learned in the Navy with a horse collar. I have had other BDC's over the years, but this is the best to date. It has some adjustments to customize the fit. I have heard it tends to roll, inherent with the wing design as flotation is in the back? I got used to it by securing jacket and slowly rolling so I don't even notice. Also, perhaps those others put weight in tank pockets, maybe too much? Therefore, increasing the roll. These weight pockets can be rotated towards the BCD limiting profile. I like the wights in the front pocket for diving, but while sitting on the surface waiting fr a buddy, and holding a heavy camera, I was quite uncomfortable, but breaking out my snorkel would have fixed that! Ha! It is important to wet the tank strap as the tank will slide when walking if the strap is dry. I simply took a wet rag and got it wet .... easy. I was able to put the tank strap high enough that it did not hit me in the head, even when I did a pike surface dive. Other BCD's have a second strap near the bottom to give additional securing, but I would think that may limit my movement when photographing. Hope this helps, Bob
Michele D  Thanks! I travel a lot and I already have an Oceanic Chute II. Great for diving. Love it. Great for diving in cool to cold water but a bit heavy when travelling and with all these travel restrictions. So I am looking into buying a lighter BC, even though I don't want to. The airline weight restrictions are getting harder for me to meet. Again thanks for opnion. I really appreciate it.
Brian K  what type of weight retention/release has this BC got? Is it mechanical retention or velcro?
MAX W  The front weight pouches use the common back plastic "side press" clips with a small fabric flap. These release small zipper pouches that contain the weights. Rear ballast (tank) weights are zipper pouches, non-dumpable.
