I get cold easily so I have a collection of beanies and hoods.

I wouldn't use this for cold water — for that I'd use a vest (with 'skin in') with an integrated hood.

Someone inferred that the pictures weren't the same as the product — actually, the problem is that the first picture is so bad that you can't see the details. If you click on the 2nd thumbnail, you'll see that the strap loops through a plastic glide buckle and then of course, the strap attaches to itself via Velcro.

You don't want to buy an over-sized beanie because that Velcro section of the strap might end up under your neck - and that would be uncomfortable.

For male sizing, imagine a T-shirt that fits traditionally - where the seam of the shoulder lines up with the 'point of the shoulder' - use that size T-shirt to choose a size for the beanie.

Beanies and hoods have to have air holes — otherwise, air will fill the top of the beanie and, well, it'll be a problem. My Neo beanie had no air holes. So, I straightened a large paper clip, heated it over a flame until it was red hot and then 'very carefully' made two parallel rows of tiny air holes along the outer edges of the 'top center panel' of the beanie. The holes start about a 3/4 inch from the front edge of the center panel and continue just past the crown of the head. If you decide to do this, don't wiggle the paper clip when you pierce the neoprene - you only need a hole about 1/32 inch diameter. Numerous tiny holes - spaced out - are better than one big hole.

This is a good 'cap' for those needing just the top of the head covered and not the forehead or the back of the head covered. For surface diving or kayaking or other sports that just need a bit of head cover--it would be OK. But for surfing or any other active sport--it will slip back off the head because it rides HIGH on the forehead and 'catch' at the chinstrap and choke you. If you only need a small cap cover, I'd suggest slitting it at the ears to let water escape out the 'balloon' that water will create rushing against it.

I returned mine because it was so small a head cover it did not fit my needs. The company was very nice about this too.

Comments about Neosport by Henderson Neosport 2.5mm Sport Beanie Cap:

The very high cut on the front of the beanie put it at or above the front hairline, allowing the beanie to easily slide backward on the head and does a poor job of keeping the hair under the beanie.

Wife used the cap to keep hair clear from the dive mask. It worked great on dives in Roatan, Belize and Cozumel. Yes, I would recommend this item.

              Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
ALEX H  Nice quality, good price, perfect for bold guy in 70-78 waters
Shopper  I'm trying to decide what to get. Why did you pick this one?
DARRELL B  I wanted one that I could use for diving in water that was not extremely cold and I wanted one that could be used while kayaking in cool weather. I also wanted one that could put on and taken off easily and be worn under a helmet. I have bought several Neo Sport wetsuits in the past and when I decided to buy a beanie cap this one was the only one that I considered. No regrets.
Shopper  how do you know what size to order?
DAVID O  They are true to hat size.
