About Mares Ranger 12 Regulator

Excellent performance without a high price, incorporating all the features that make Mares regulators stand out from the rest Mares Ranger 12 is a mid-size regulator with stylish design, strengthened by the ultimate technologies to provide steady, natural and effortless breathing

The first stage is a balanced diaphragm design in a chromed marine grade brass body with the Tri-Material Valve The "Tri-Material" Valve is a patented innovation, conceived and created to optimize performance, safety, and reliability over time for Mares first stages During operation, the high-pressure valve is subjected to various stresses In traditional valves, these stresses, combined with extreme usage conditions, can cause premature wear of the valve with a consequent drop in reliability, performance, and safety After careful study of the forces involved, the pressures that act on the surfaces of the valve, and the usage conditions to which it is subjected, Mares has created the new "Tri-material" valve (brass, soft polyurethane, and "heavy duty" polyurethane), found today on all Mares first stages

This innovative technical solution guarantees maximum performance, safety, and durability for Mares first stages The exclusive MARES DFC system featured minimizes the intermediate pressure drop which occurs in all regulators during the inhalation phase This pressure drop is greater when higher airflow is demanded of the regulator The DFC system substantially reduces breathing effort and inhalation resistance, especially during deep dives and under high air flow conditions

The second stage Vortex Assist Design (V A D ) system: all Mares second stages offer the unique patented VAD system The air bypass tube conveys air to the mouthpiece creating a swirling vortex with a low pressure area in the center this keeps the diaphragm down during inhalation, giving very sensitive and easy breathing at all depths All enclosed in a lightweight Techno-Polymer housing Regulator comes with a Standard 3/8" Threaded 31 5" (80 cm) LP Hose, a Comprehensive Owner's Manual and is covered by a limited lifetime warranty

The Mares Ranger 12 Regulator is commonly used for Warm Water and more. The Mares Ranger 12 Regulator is most used by customers who consider themselves to be a Advanced, Casual/ Recreational among others. The Mares Ranger 12 Regulator is popular because customers like the following qualities of the Mares Ranger 12 Regulator: Comfortable, Effortless breathing, Nitrox Compatible.

Over all this is a great reg set. Would I love to have adjustable flow and braided line from the factory? YES, But I paid [$] for this reg and I dont even remotely believe I could get this on a reg set of this wuality for that price. Breaths like silk and is light weight. My only wish would be (I am a big guy) a coulple more inches of hose. New short hose causes a clight cant in seating of the mouthpeice causing minor jaw fatigus after a couple of dives. Gee I had to buy a $35 hose to make it perfect for me. I can live with that. All in all..... if your ooking for a grear reg for a minimal abount of money, Mares didnt skimp with the Ranger 12, you cant go wrong with this one.P.S. Bought one for the wife too she feels the same about it. Hose length if fine for her though.

This is a good, basic, entry-level regulator. It breathes easily and has a great price-point. However, any time the mouthpiece faces up towards the surface while out of your mouth, it will go into freeflow. Seeing how it is in my mouth 99% of the time, this was a minor issue. I would recommend to others, but only as a value-priced starter.

Comments about Mares Ranger 12 Regulator:

I bought this regulator with the package set and I have to say it does what it is intended to do. Not really any bells and whistles on it, but like I said, it does what it's suppsosed to do. The only thing I don't care for is after about 40 minutes or so of diving, jaw fatigue really kicks in with this reg.

Comments about Mares Ranger 12 Regulator:

Im a recreational diver, mostly dive in warm water.

I thinky the price/quality ratio is great, you get more than you pay for, i wish it had flow regulator on the second stage.

Last time i went down to 130 feets and it got a little harder to breath, but i have never gone that deep before so i cant if that is normal.

Comments about Mares Ranger 12 Regulator:

I'm a new diver with 15 dives mostly around 80' in 80 deg water. This was a great choice for me as it's a balanced diaphram 1st stage with reasonably weighted 2nd stage (around 200 grams). I have jaw fatigue with some rentals but not this one. Just to be sure I used a flexible hose and elbow at the 2nd stage. This is the workhorse for Mares and normally at a great price point around $200 at discount places. In my case I bought it on close out special from LP for only [$]! Well known brand so parts availability is assured, great performance at my max depth which was 95', and great customer service from Scubaboard, and from my supplier of choice Leisure Pro. Doesn't get any better than that does it?
