About Mares Rover 2S

The new Rover 2S is an excellent choice for intensive rental use in the Diving Centers and for all divers who want reliability! The new R2S first stage is the evolution of the piston regulator. The first stage is made of marine grade brass with a sandblasted finish for increase scratch resistance. The protection cover of the first stage is designed to allow the installation of an optional RFID chip for rental use managed by dedicated PC software.

The lightweight compact and sturdy non-balanced first stage piston design with its Dynamic Flow Control (DFC) system minimizes the intermediate pressure drop during inhalation, making it possible to use a simpler and more reliable second stage regulator further increasing reliability. The DFC does not require any type of manual adjustment for the second stage due to the consistency of the stable air flow, even under extreme conditions.

The Mid-Sized Techno-Polymer second stage regulator with its simple, yet reliable downstream demand valve design has a Fluid Dynamic Deflector. This innovative deflector, developed after in-depth studies and tests of fluid dynamics, is engineered to receive and properly direct the airflow from the bypass tube to the mouthpiece. Combined with the Vortex Assisted Design (VAD) system that creates a swirling vortex with a low pressure area in the center of the regulator that keeps the diagram down during inhalation, for very sensitive and easy breathing at all depths.

Mares patented Mesh Grid design of the second stage cover reduces the pressure of water flowing onto the second stage diaphragm and minimizes free-flow. Even in strong currents it eliminates the need for a knob to de-tune (make it harder to breathe) your air delivery system to stop the un-wanted free-flow: advanced technology through basic physics. This simple and reliable design makes for easy and reduced maintenance. First stage has one high pressure port and four low pressure ports. Rover 2S has a 3/8" threaded 31.5" (80 cm) hose and comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

Can't really beat it

By

from Vero Beach, FL, US

Bought his as my first Req. Finally got into diving. I saw and reviewed many regs. And really for the price you can't beat it. I have taken it up to 112 ft and it works perfectly. From a shore dive, to a deep dive pretty reliable. I live in Fl and almost everyone service this brand. I haven't really had a bad experience and its been a year later. They have a good warranty as well. If you are a newbe, you won't go wrong with this.

Pretty darn good for the price

By

from West Palm, FL, US

I am by no means a professional diver. That being said I have used this reg up and down the Florida coast at a wide range of depts (from 10 ft to 110 ft) and I have no had a single issue. Even deeper depths the breathing is easy and the flow is nice. 6 months of use and still no issues. Like I said, you can't beat the product for the price.

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Is this regulator balanced or unbalanced?
ROSS G  Balanced
CHARLES H  unbalanced-most (maybe all) of the mares second stages are unbalanced. We own four. My personal was purchased in 1983 and is still in use. My wife has had hers since 2000 and the two new ones (Rover 2)are for my children. All perform great and breath easy. All of our diving is non technical in easy conditions.
Marilyn S  This is an unbalanced piston regulator.
Shopper  Can I use this reg in cold water?
GREG J  I use mine in Monterey, CA which is pretty cold and do not have any problems.
TIMOTHY B  Any regulator has the possibility of free-flow in clod water. However, I have used the Rover 2S to about 45 degrees with no problem. Will it (or any other regulator) always handle cold water - probably not but this is a great work horse of a reg.
WARREN T  I live in Ogden Utah, we have alot of mountain lakes up here. I've used this Reg in water between 40-60F degrees without any issues. It does seem to have a break in period of a couple dives but I love mine. Great buy for the money.
Marilyn S  You can yes (cold but not ice), but for better performance in cold water, I would recommend something in the Mares Abyss line.
WILLIAM R  Yes as long as your not ice diving.
ANDRE B  It can be used in cold weather however I prefer using adjustable regs in colder weather. I have used this with no problems over the past year . For the money it is a great reg . Diving in cold weather Ohio and warm weather Florida / Puerto Rico flawlessly
Shopper  Can i use this reg with NITROX?
Monica s  Up to 40% out of the box, yes.
