About Mares Rover 12S Regulator

Rover 12S is an excellent choice for intensive use at a Diving Center and for recreational divers who demand reliability. The balanced diaphragm first stage uses the Mares Tri-material valve; the medium-size second stage features a cover made of soft material that makes it easy to push the purge button, even when wearing gloves. The latest technologies offer easy, natural, regular breathing.

The all chrome plated marine brass first stage regulator is a balanced diaphragm design which is environmentally sealed. The diaphragm membrane transmits the pressure changes to the internal mechanism eliminating the need for the surrounding water to enter the intricate mechanism. The benefit of this type of first stage design is that none of the internal parts are exposed to contaminants such as salt, sand, chlorine or pool acids. These environmental contaminants cause corrosion and mineral deposits to form on the internal mechanism deteriorating regulator performance.

The Rover 12 uses Tri-Material Valve Technology. This patented technology created to optimize performance, safety and reliability. The valve is covered with a hard Polyurethane (PU) and the sealing surface is a layered with a soft PU for a perfect seal. Tri-material (brass, soft PU and heavy-duty" PU) reaches new levels of durability.

Another unique feature of the first-stage is the Dynamic Flow Control (DFC). The DFC system minimizes the intermediate pressure drop during inhalation, making it possible to use a simpler more reliable second stage. No type of manual adjustment of the second stage is necessary due to the consistency derived from a first stage that guarantees a stable flow of air, even under extreme conditions.

The techno-polymer second stage has superior performance. The patented mesh design of the second stage cover reduces the pressure of water flowing onto the regulators diaphragm and minimizes free-flow. Even in a strong current it eliminates the need for a knob to de-tune your air delivery system- advance technology through basic physics.

All Mares second stages are a reliable downstream valve design and offer the unique patented Vortex Assisted Design (VAD) system. The air bypass tube conveys air to the mouthpiece creating a swirling vortex with a low pressure area in the center that keeps the diaphragm down during inhalation, for very sensitive and easy breathing at all depths.

Mares Rover second stage incorporates the Fluid Dynamic Deflector, developed after in-depth studies and tests of fluid dynamics, is engineered to receive and properly direct the airflow from the bypass tube to the mouthpiece. Combined with the VAD system it delivers very natural and effortless breathing. Rover 12 has a 3/8" threaded 31.5" (80 cm) hose and comes with an owner's manual.

Best reg I've owned. Comfortable and good flow. Used it on several dives in Mexico and California waters. Consistency is good in various temps.

Disappointed

By

from Whitesboro, NY, US

Mares regulator I bought went on sale within a week or so after I bought it. I overpaid. Also I wanted Pinnacle comfo belt 5 pocket & waited several weeks for you to restock it but it continued to be out of stock so I ordered 4 pocket. It is too small for weights I need so I ended up buying 5 pocket from scuba.com and will now be returning your 4 pocket belt. I prefer purchasing items from you as in the past and I have referred several customers to you I'm recent years so wish I had been compensated for the regulator price drop.

Works Great

By

I was a little apprehensive at first but after 8 dives I took it to Pensacola Florida and dove a wreck at 113 ft and 61°. I use Nitrox and the air flow didn't diminish at all. It must have been the "Dynamic Flow Control" on the first stage, It was just as good as it was at the surface. The only thing wrong with it is the mouth piece, but I bought a Cushion mouthpiece (http://www.leisurepro.com/p-aqumpub/ultra-black-silicone-mouthpiece) and it works great.

Questions about this item:

Otis G  Is the first and second stage hoses including with the regulator at this 159.95 price?
Frank L  This includes the first stage, 2nd stage and one Low pressure hose to connect the two.
Otis G  Mr. Frank Thank you for your timely response.
earl w  this first stage is balanced and environmental sealed so do you need to add a cold water dry kit for this?
JESSE B  I never had a real problem with it freezing up, im a commercial diver and dive it all year round in nj
RJB R  I dive Cold water in the Pacific Northwest. Water Temps vary between 46 and 50F and the regulator performs perfectly without the Cold water Kit. I would only consider adding it if I were Ice Diving.
Michael D  Is there a DIN conversion available for the 12S?
