About Mares Rover 12 Regulator

Rover 12 is an excellent choice for intensive use at a Diving Center and for recreational divers who demand reliability. The balanced diaphragm first stage uses the Mares Tri-material valve; the medium-size second stage features a cover made of soft material that makes it easy to push the purge button, even when wearing gloves. The latest technologies offer easy, natural, regular breathing.

The all chrome plated marine brass first stage regulator is a balanced diaphragm design which is environmentally sealed. The diaphragm membrane transmits the pressure changes to the internal mechanism eliminating the need for the surrounding water to enter the intricate mechanism. The benefit of this type of first stage design is that none of the internal parts are exposed to contaminants such as salt, sand, chlorine or pool acids. These environmental contaminants cause corrosion and mineral deposits to form on the internal mechanism deteriorating regulator performance.

The Rover 12 uses Tri-Material Valve Technology. This patented technology created to optimize performance, safety and reliability. The valve is covered with a hard Polyurethane (PU) and the sealing surface is a layered with a soft PU for a perfect seal. Tri-material (brass, soft PU and heavy-duty" PU) reaches new levels of durability.

Another unique feature of the first-stage is the Dynamic Flow Control (DFC). The DFC system minimizes the intermediate pressure drop during inhalation, making it possible to use a simpler more reliable second stage. No type of manual adjustment of the second stage is necessary due to the consistency derived from a first stage that guarantees a stable flow of air, even under extreme conditions.

The techno-polymer second stage has superior performance. The patented mesh design of the second stage cover reduces the pressure of water flowing onto the regulators diaphragm and minimizes free-flow. Even in a strong current it eliminates the need for a knob to de-tune your air delivery system- advance technology through basic physics.

All Mares second stages are a reliable downstream valve design and offer the unique patented Vortex Assisted Design (VAD) system. The air bypass tube conveys air to the mouthpiece creating a swirling vortex with a low pressure area in the center that keeps the diaphragm down during inhalation, for very sensitive and easy breathing at all depths.

Mares Rover second stage incorporates the Fluid Dynamic Deflector, developed after in-depth studies and tests of fluid dynamics, is engineered to receive and properly direct the airflow from the bypass tube to the mouthpiece. Combined with the VAD system it delivers very natural and effortless breathing. Rover 12 has a 3/8" threaded 31.5" (80 cm) hose and comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

Comments about Mares Rover 12 Regulator:

I was used it in Carribean sea for a few dives. Problem with air leak especially for > 100 ft. of depth. After ascent I was open it and completely cleaned up and new adjustment. Otherway , good product for beginners and recreational diving.

Comments about Mares Rover 12 Regulator:

I use this as a backup regulator and a stage/deco bottle regulator. I was annoyed at the placement of only a single "DFC" Low Pressure port. "DFC" is the technology that allows Mares Regulators to deliver more consistent pressures. Many companies address this with elegant 2nd Stage design. Mares' approach with this regulator was to handle it in the 1st Stage and provide only a bare bones basic, compact 2nd Stage. This works great for durability but is less advantageous for someone like me. I wish all their LP ports were "DFC" so that my stage/deco setup would be more compact. The 1st Stage looks and feels awesome. Like it was chiseled out of a block of platinum. I could shave by looking into my reflection of its surface. If you are looking for an affordable, bullet proof regulator for a tremendous price than look no further than the MR-12S.

Questions about this item:

John W  I am interested in using this first stage along with a G250 second on a stage cylinder. Any issue with using a different second stage on the DFC port? How about the Mr22? The IP should be about the same I would think?
Monica s  I don't see an issue with using a different 2nd stage on the mares first stages, should be fine.
Shopper  How many HP/LP ports does the 1st stage have?
JIMMY Z  2/4
Craig E  While most other SCUBA manufacturers allow use with up to 40% Nitrox with their standard regulators, Mares seems to only offer one Nitrox specfic regulator. Was just wondering the reasoning behind it?
Brett H  You are very welcome Craig, I'm happy to help ;-)
