About Mares Kaila AT Women's BC with MRS Plus Weight Pockets

Kaila (means "style" in Hawaiian): for the elegant female diver who wants function and comfort allied with style and distinction. The modern and exclusive design of the Jacket Style Dragon air cell allows for optimal buoyancy. The slender design of the front also facilitates buoyancy on the surface. Practicality and style, who says you can't have it all.

Dual adjustable shoulder straps allow BCD to adjust to a wide range of different torso lengths. Interior plush lined and neoprene padded collar for maximum comfort with or without a suit. The Back Protection System Plus is a patented dual position lumbar backpack. Heavily padded in either position, you can double the padding for increased lumbar support or extend the length of the padding depending on body shape for ultimate dive and pre-dive comfort. Elastic cummerbund secures the BCD in place and adjusts for wetsuit compression at depth.

Optimal ballast with a mechanical release system (MRS Plus), a simple click ensures easy and secure storage of the weight pockets. A single outward pull on the oversized handle releases your weights. Maximum load 13 lbs (6 kg), Velcro interior for dividing the pocket into multiple sections (M, L, XL) allowing a more secure weight system. Ergonomically designed shoulder straps to relieve pressure on the shoulders when wearing your gear, makes this BCD for She who Dives.

Comfort is important, but durability means years of maintenance free use. The outside of the BCD is made from durable 400 Cordura Nylon has abrasion resistant protection with strong polyurethane inside. Five AISI 304 stainless steel D-Rings and grommets for accessory attachments and Mares Force Knife Collection allows maximum accessorizing.

For perfect buoyancy underwater, the first and only pneumatic system (patented) that revolutionizes and simplifies buoyancy control during the dive, making it precise and immediate in any position and under any condition. It features a single intuitive and ergonomic control to inflate and deflate the BC. Two oversized buttons, which are easy to operate and allows for easy and accurate buoyancy control. The exclusive "Twin Exhaust Valve" technology, patented by the Mares research laboratories, allows the Airtrim deflation button to simultaneously control both of the pneumatic exhaust valves: that way, it's possible to deflate the BC simply by pressing a single button, without worrying about your position in the water.

With adjustable chest strap, zippered pockets, ergonomic transport handle, dual position hose clip for your gauges, shaped shoulder straps adapt better to the female body and lots of lift 36 lbs (16.4 kg) in the large sizes makes this one great BCD. Kaila comes in five sizes and has a 24 month limited warranty.

Comments about Mares Kaila AT Women's BC with MRS Plus Weight Pockets:

I have owned a Mares Air Trim BCD since the beginning of my diving about 5 years ago. I love the Air Trim(AT), if you have debated about going to the AT from a standard BC, debate no more. It is so easy to perfect your buoyancy and it is very easy to use in any position in the water. I had to get a smaller BCD and didn't want to get away from Mares AT, so this was the one, made for a womens body was another selling point for me as well. It is so comfortable, very well padded, nice back support. The BCD inflates aroung your tank which helps keep you in a more natural diving position. A lot of D rings and places to put your gear. I have a knife, noise maker, safety sausage, flashlight, camera keeper, octo and comp and still have lots of room to clip more gear if I needed to. Easily fits 5+ pounds of soft weight in each pocket and I have a size small. Two cons - the inflator hose as stated in another review, does store inside the left pocket, if you use the pockets a lot, this could be an issue. I personally think pockets on BC's are pretty useless, they are so hard to get into. The other con is that it does not pack as compact as the other BC I have because of the padding and the way it inflates around the tank. I can still get all my gear minus fins into a carry on roller though so I am happy. I would buy this BC over and over again! I would go by measurements not necessarily weight. I am 5'7" and weigh a lean 150lbs and have a size small and it fits perfectly! A better size chart for the womens BCD I found on scubaboard from a mares rep.Size weight height waist chestXXS <80lbs <60" 20-30" <30"XS 80-115lbs 55-65" 22-32" 28-33"S 95-130lbs 59-67" 24-34" 30-36"M 110-145lbs 65-70" 27-38" 32-38"L 125-170lbs >67" 29-42" >35"

Comments about Mares Kaila AT Women's BC with MRS Plus Weight Pockets:

I purchased this BC for my wife (I have the dragon) and she loves it. Unfortunately she has a neoprene allergy, which we didn't learn until after all of our purchases. Those with the same allergy beware there appears to be a small amount of neoprene padding around the neck line of this BC. My wife had to wear a turtle neck rash guard for protection. My only dislike is the manual inflation valve (Airtrim). It coils up inside of one of the BC side pockets and is pulled through a hole when needed. If you have anything stored inside that pocket the hose could get tangled up or pinched, not good under an emergency situation. Other then those two things she, she loves her Kaila.

Questions about this item:

Debora D  Hola tendran en talle M este producto? Size M???
Michael C  This is a discontinued product. The only size we have left is 2X-Small.
Shopper  How is Kaila Airtrim model different from general Kaila BC? Is there any functional difference?
MARK P G  The airtrim system takes the place of a more conventional inflator hose and deflation system. The power inflator hose from your regulator connects to the the bc at a point above your left hip where the controls for the airtrim system are located. There are two "buttons" on the airtrim the one on the front slowly lets air out of the bc for decent, the one on top of the bc is the power inflator to ascend. The controls are very intuitive and allow you to fine tune your buoyancy extremely well. The two slight draw backs to this system are that it lets air out of the bc very slowly, so that for the initial descent, I find it easier to pull the dump valve lanyard to let air out. The other is that the oral inflator is a hose that coils up into one of the side pockets of the bc, rendering that pocket more or less unusable for anything else. These are two very minor "grips". I would recommend the airtrim system as it make achieving neutral buoyancy during the dive very easy. I hope this helps.
