Used on a recent 2 day boat trip to San Clemente and Catalina island. Worked well. Kept my hands warm without betting too bulky.

I purchased these from Leisure Pro in 2015 and used on all my dives (Freediving/spearfishing). They are very supple and warm. Water temps 52-62 degrees. Even at 52 degrees on Oregon Coast I was able to stay warm for 3 hours, pushed it to 3 1/2 and hands did get cold but still no complaints. I have 5 mm gloves from neosport I believe but they feel very boardy and leave virtually no dexterity. I hope to compare the 5 mm vs 3 mm Mares. I suspect they will be similar warmth.

Is the palm and finger material a lining over neoprene, or is there no neoprene on the palm and fingers?

There is neoprene over palm and fingers. These are really warm, and provide much dexterity. Was in 52 degree water for almost 3 hours and not cold.
