About Mares X-Stream Open Heel Fins

X-stream comfort, X-ceptional efficiency
The X-stream performance, comfort and lightweight design are the incredible result of sixty passionate years at the service of diving. The X-stream is truly a leap into the future, and changes forever how we envision the creation of a fin. More than 2 years of resources, experiments and testing and four Mares patents all concentrated in one unique product.

The Optimized Pivoting Blade system (OPB) allows the blade to maintain an optimal angle throughout the kicking cycle, whereas traditional fins achieve this only during a small portion of the cycle, OPB produces a constant thrust, which minimizes fatigue and produces fluid movement through the water.

The ergonomically designed foot pocket delivers maximum power and evenly distributes pressure over the foot to minimize fatigue. The foot pocket interior features internal ribbing that improves fit, eliminates foot suction and prevents foot pocket flexing, while transmitting more power to the blade.

X-Streme uses Mares patented design ABS Plus Buckles (Adjustable Binding System). It only takes one quick movement to easily open or close these buckles, even when wearing thick neoprene gloves. The double button release prevents the buckles from accidentally opening making them the most user friendly system on the market.

The Super-Channel is designed for the diver who wants the perfect blend of power and efficiency in one fin. The new blade design with a large central Super-channel and two traditional lateral channels provide excellent thrust while maintaining hi-efficiency and minimizing leg fatigue. The blade uses Tri-Material Construction, constructed of Techno-Polymers and Thermoplastic rubber for extended durability.

Fin comes in four colors and three sizes, has an overall length between 23" to 25.2" (60 to 64 cm) depending on size and weights 2.9 lbs (1.34 kg); fins come with a 24 month limited warranty.

DIVE PINK & FIGHT BREST CANCER! For every Pink Fins $5 will be donated to fight breast cancer.

Bottom Line Up Front: Look no fin futher. No doubt you will look for a fin that will save you some cash but before you do, think about this. These fins work, really really well. Mares X-Stream are a VERY FAST FIN that will not fatigue you. Great design, and for all of us who travel, its not too long. They fit perfectly into a Pelican 1650 case with your rig and BCV unlike some other fins. Those who know wont dive "spilts" in some stronger conditions so really.. ? why drop the coin on splits? X-Streams cover all conditions and are easy to use in confined spaces with a responsive feel for back peddling so as to not turn up so much silt. No, they are not perfect for all and can be a bit heavy but I think you will dig them after one dive out. Energy transfer is the best I have found in 15 years. Foot box is roomy and will accomodate a 7mm boot. Straps work great, easy design to get used to and the hinge pinch latch is workable even in gloves. Most say to upgrade to spings straps but you wont need to as they are made very well, at least 2 as the warrenty holds, nice touch from a good company.

Bought these fins, after i unboxed them i tried them on and one of the straps that came with the fins broke. I ordered the bungie straps that mares sells and thought problem solved. I used my hollis fins and allowed my friend to use these, after we finished diving i asked him if he like them and he said they lacked power. In disbelief because the reviews spoke so highly of the product, i headed out through the surf to try them myself. While donning the fins in the surf a wave pushed the blade under the foot pocket and the rubber ripped. Probably the worst designed fins ever, they are so easy to break and they aren't worth the price. I own lots of mares gear and for the most part its designed well, this isn't.

I used these fins on a two week trip. Took some getting used to the click caused by the joint but once I got used to that I loved them. I did replace the straps with spring straps. The original straps are pretty difficult to remove.

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
WILLIAM G  Online and first person reviews led me to these fins. They do not disappoint
Lena T  could you please tell, description says that weight is 2.9 lb . Is it weight of one fin or two fins?
Frank L  Combined weight of both fins.
caitlyn c  Anyone bought the pink/white mares x stream fins? Didn't know if the white part became dirty after multiple uses, or if they were "cheap" looking in person.
JAMES M  I do not have the pink/white, but I do have the blue/white and they get a little dirty, but my main issue is with performance. The Mares Volo Power is so much better on the surface and in the water I don't know why anyone would buy these fins. The Bolo Power are also less prone to breaking because there is no weak hinge point like on the X-Stream. Just my 2 cents.
