About Mares Volo Race Full Foot Fins

The combination of Optimized Pivoting Blade system (OPB) and Super Channel Thrust technology make the Volo Race the perfect fin for divers who want to increase their kick efficiency with minimum effort. The use of OPB for controlling and optimizing the thrust angle, and Super Channel Thrust Technology for perfect routing of the water flow across the fin blade, make Volo Race the divers choice. Rubber covered stabilizers provide improved performance. Divers and snorkeler's alike will enjoy this easy kicking fin.

The OPB allows the blade to maintain an optimal angle throughout the kicking cycle, whereas traditional fins achieve this only during a small portion of the cycle, OPB produces a constant thrust, which minimizes fatigue and produces fluid movement through the water. The Mares Volo Race also allows you to use alternate kick strokes not possible with splits fins.

The Volo Race Super-Channel is designed for the diver who wants the perfect blend of power and efficiency in one fin. The new blade design with a large central Super-channel and two traditional lateral channels provide excellent thrust while maintaining hi-efficiency and minimizing leg fatigue. The blade is constructed of Tecralene and Thermoplastic rubber for extended durability.

Fin comes in six sizes and three colors; overall fin length is 23.2" to 28.1" (59 to 71.5 cm) and weights 2.2 lbs to 3.8 lbs (1.02 kg to 1.74 kg). Fins come with a 24 month limited warranty.

So if high performance with minimal exertion, maximum comfort and exceptional light weight - a combination that makes diving more enjoyable, is what you want then Volo Race is what you want.

Love this fin

I needed a backup pair of fins, and in a co,our that I could use when swimming around sharks.

Most Liked Negative Review

okay fin

Would probably have given 4 stars if I didn't have a pair of Superchannels first. Good fin, just not as comfortable powerful and responsive as the superchannels.

Good light weight full footed fin

from Morgan Hill, CA, US

Excellent travel fin with great thrust. I live in a cold water climate, but got these to do some tropical diving and was very pleased. The foot is plenty wide and comfortable and the fin fits true to size.

Mares Volo Fins

from Naples, FL, US

I am an ocean swimmer and look for fins that provide more thrust than just dead weight of most fins. First thing to consider is weight and these fins are light. A big plus. To heavy and they tire you out. Thrust comes when a fin flexes and then snaps back. I cut five inches off the end because in my opinion it's just to soft. This enables the fin to really pop. These do run big as I am size 13 but 11-12 fit perfect. No flex to the foot pocket is a must and these don't flex. Very nice.

Great fins - design flaw

Okay I love these fins so much I am ordering my second pair. I use them for diving and snorkeling (which I can do for hours), my only disappointment is that I have to replace them, because they split around where the word Mares is imprinted in the fin. I think they would still be working if not for that. Yes a bit bulky, but they are so powerful I just love the feeling of swimming with these. I think I must of had them 6 or 7 years. I am very diligent about rinsing my gear and keeping it out of the sun.

The flippers I've been looking for

Arrived in nice packaging and in good time

Excellent fins

Sizing is correct, very little effort to kick, very nice fins for every use

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
SHARRON L  Mares is a quality scuba equipment company. These fins fit my swimming and diving ability and, on sale, were $26 less than 2 other dive equipment sites.
GREGORY H  I chose this because I hate carrying and wearing booties. I don't really do any cool or cold-weather diving, and to me, these are more than adequate for Hawaii / Caribbean water.
RUSSELL G  I pu0chaced these fins to dive in tropical waters and pack light , elminating the need for booties.
KAREN H  They require very little effort to kick. No leg cramps!
MICHAEL B  I use these for weekly confined Open Water classes. They are easy off and on, require no booties to clean and dry, and allow me to respond to student needs quickly.
MICHAEL B  I use these for weekly confined Open Water classes. They are easy off and on, require no booties to clean and dry, and allow me to respond to student needs quickly.
Paul K  I wear a women's size 8M. I do not want "loose" fitting fins but don't want tight fins that are difficult to take off at the end of the dive or give me cramps. I do wear thin socks so I don't get blisters. Size suggestion?
Frank L  Probably the 5/6. Only way to know is to try them on.
Shopper  Is this suitable for beginner diver?
JOSHUA S  Yes, they're great fins all around and will last you a long time. May as well get them when you first start out!
Kasia W  This fins will great for a warm water diver. They are extremely fast and powerful. Very easy on legs.
SANDY J  Yes, absolutely.
THOMAS P  Truthfully yes. But you should really start with an open heel fin. These are great for guides or rescue swimmers and they have tons of power. But if you are looking to dive in any environment you should be wearing booties.
