About Mares Volo Power Open Heel Fins

The Mares Volo scuba fin is a gigantic leap forward in fin technology. This fin is so revolutionary; it is covered by 8 different patents. The Volo uses Mares Optimized Pivoting Blade system (OPB); the Volo is 30% more efficient than traditional fins. The OPB allows the blade to maintain an optimal angle throughout the kicking cycle, whereas traditional fins achieve this only during a small portion of the cycle, OPB produces a constant thrust, which minimizes fatigue and produces fluid movement through the water. The Mares Volo also allows you to use alternate kick strokes not possible with splits fins.

The Volo Super-channel is designed for the diver who wants the perfect blend of power and efficiency in one fin. The new blade design with a large central Super-channel and two traditional lateral channels provide excellent thrust while maintaining hi-efficiency and minimizing leg fatigue. The blade is constructed of Tecralene and Thermoplastic rubber for extended durability.

The ergonomically designed foot pocket delivers maximum power and evenly distributes pressure over the foot to minimize fatigue. The foot pocket interior features internal ribbing that improves fit, eliminates foot suction and prevents foot pocket flexing, while transmitting more power to the blade.

Volo uses Mares patented design ABS Plus Buckles (Adjustable Binding System). It only takes one quick movement to easily open or close these buckles, even when wearing thick neoprene gloves. The double button release prevents the buckles from accidentally opening making them the most user friendly system on the market.

Fin comes in four colors and three sizes, has an overall length between 23.2" to 25.2" (59 to 64 cm) and weights 2.5 lbs to 3.4 lbs (1.13 kg to 1.53 kg) depending on size, and come with a 24 month limited warranty.

The Mares Volo Power Open Heel Fins is commonly used for Recreation, SCUBA, Snorkeling, Travel and more. The Mares Volo Power Open Heel Fins is most used by customers who consider themselves to be a Advanced, Advanced Diver, Recreational Diver among others. The Mares Volo Power Open Heel Fins is popular because customers like the following qualities of the Mares Volo Power Open Heel Fins: Accommodates Boots, Comfortable, Efficient, Lightweight.

Lots of thrust but buckle is confounding

I like these fins and get a lot of power without a lot of effort. I have recommended them to friends -- with one caveat... I thought the buckle design would make them easy to get on and off, but I find the buckle is so stiff that I can barely get it open. Divemasters don't even try. I plan to replace the buckle and strap with a spring. I also found that the "small" size isn't terribly small. I have size 6 feet (women's) and these seem to be at least a size 8. I can't really get the s...

disapointing

Be aware that these fin's wont last really long: The black flexible plastic will disconnect from the colored more rigid plastic at the tip of the fin. I bought a first set 4 years ago and thought this was normal wear and tear . But I recently purchased a new set (May2013) and it started to break only 30 days of normal uses (about 20 dives). This is not acceptable, especially for product branded by Mares. Not worth the money spend.

Awful fins

By

from Jax, FL, US

I am a professional diver and have to work in a variety of conditions. Strong current, weak current, you name it I work in it. These fins are okay if you're in super shallow water with no current in my opinion. Strong current kills this product. I was working in stronger current for a few hours today and I had to kick so fast to get anywhere. Not a good product for a SERIOUS diver.

Mares Volo Power Open Heel Fins

By

from Chicago, IL, US

I purchased these fins after extensive research for a trip to Bonaire. I am 9/9.5W. I purchased the fins in size small. They fit perfectly with my dive boots. The heel straps were easily adjustable. I didn't cramp at all during my one week trip (with multiple dives daily). The yellow looks very cool and the fins are light(er) weight. I definitely recommend these fins!

I've been scuba diveing now for over 40yrs. Iam NAUI AND PADI cirt.diver I've had several different fins over the years. I was visiting a scuba shop in southern fl. And they showed me these fins I thought they look kinda weird but I tried them in the shops swimming dive pool Wow! I had to hardly kick at all and the performance of these fins blew me away!!!! These are my second set my first set of fins my first set were stolen. The first thing I did was look these fins up when I was replacing my Dive equipment. TRY THEM YOU WILL LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!

best fins I have ever dove

By

from San Diego, CA, US

I love these fins and have a few pairs . I love the ease of kicking and the ability to do any kick styles (frog, scull, regular) . I can also do a 360º turn on a dime using only one fin . The only reason for 4 and not 5 stars is the plastic stiffener separates from the rubber on the fin tip after a couple hundred dives . To be fair, I am a photographer and am very hard on gear .

Game Changing

By

from Isla Mujeres, Quantana Roo, MX

My wife had a love hate relationship with diving. She loved what she was seeing but hated trying to keep up with dive groups and really disliked some pushes against the flow. So before our trip to Couzmel I bought her a pair. Let's just say when I get home I will be ordering another pair. For me. These are awesome. I was not once today looking behind me to see my wife. Or yesterday. So much for problems keeping up or wearing out from too much effort. Just order them.
