About Mares Raptor Open Heel Fins

The Raptor uses an advanced design and combination of materials to create the highest performance Split Fin in its class. The Raptor's design including the Whale Tail foot pocket for maximum energy transfer, delivers the maximum thrust and efficiency in the Split Fin category. Ergonomically designed foot pocket delivers maximum power and evenly distributes pressure over the foot to minimize fatigue. Interior, features internal ribbing that improves fit, eliminate foot suction, and prevent foot pocket flexing; this transmits more power to the blade.

Unlike traditional styles that separate materials at the foot pocket resulting in a break in power transmission, a continuum of materials from the blade ensures seamless transmission of power through the entire kick cycle. The ABS Plus Buckles (Adjustable Binding System) a unique and patented design, it only takes one quick movement to easily open or close the buckle, even when wearing thick neoprene gloves. The double button release prevents the buckle from accidentally opening, making them the most user-friendly system on the market. Fin comes in three sizes and colors; overall fin length is 23.2" to 24.8" (59 to 63 cm) and weights 4.2 lbs to 5.6 lbs (1.92 kg to 2.54 kg). Fins come with a 24 month limited warranty.

Excellent Fins, But watch for sizing

Watch out for the sizing. I wear a size 9 (5mm) boots. Luckily I went for a size small(6-9). Even with the boots on the strap had to be pulled half way. I could imagine if I got a medium(9-11). I would have had to pull the strap all the way , and it would still have plenty of slack and very loose. The sizing problem also applies to the Tusa X-pert zoom which I returned (thanks to the easy return policy of LeisurePro). But atleast Mares is a little more accurate with their sizing. So I sugges...

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
JAN B  Sale price and it looked like a good product at the local store.
JOSHUA S  They were a gift
Aaron B  are they positive or negative buoyant ?
MICHAEL P  Negative
STEVE W  They sink.
Brian B  Does a men's shoe size 9 require a small or regular fin size? if I want to wear fin socks or boots would it be better to go with regular rather than the small?
john j  I'll have to dig out the fins and check. but they are not the small, i think medium. These fins a re a little heavy but fast swimming. I use them in cold water with a 6mm Mares hard boot, and with a light weight boot in warm water. Overall I'm happy with these. I'll post back with the fin and boot size
JOE M  These fins run a little bigger than the size dictates. You will have plenty of room going with the size 9 and still wear your fin shocks or boots.
JORDAN K  I would go with regular and get a boot. The boot will make up for some size because your shoe size is at that confusing point between small and regular. My experience with boots vs socks is boots are far greater
JAMES G  Size 9 would be a regular, if you are just wearing fin socks. With boots, it depends on how big the boots are, but Large works with thin or more form fitting boots. Wear some of the hiking boot like fins and you may even need XL fins...there can be a huge difference between a thin sock, to a heave boot.
