Comments about Mares Power Plana Fins:

Purchased fins a month ago and just came back from a Mexico dive vacation. I primarily dive in cave and cenote systems and find these fins to be excellent in this type of environment. Great fins for different kicking styles and for use in tight spaces. Also did some open water (ocean) dives in moderate currents and thought the fins preformed quite well. No flimsy, wishy-washy, composite or split blades here, these all rubber construction fins will move you through currents without over exertion; but you do need to be in good physical shape. Size does run a little large and I would recommend use of a good 5mm or thicker boot that will help keep the fin fitting snug on the foot. Should note that my dive partners in Mexico are shop owners/instructors that normally dive with the tried and true Jet Fins or OMS Slipstreams. In my opinion, these Mares Power Plana fins are every bit as good performance wise as the above mentioned brands; but have a nicer style or look to them. Serious divers looking for a solid, well built and stylish rubber fin should give these a try -- another excellent Mares product!!

Comments about Mares Power Plana Fins:

I was looking for an alternative to the Tec Divers standard, the Jet Fin, as I found that fin to be just too darn heavy. I wanted something that was still negatively buoyant, short enough to be maneuverable in tight spaces and with sufficient power to push doubles and stage tanks. But was still useable when I put on a single tank for some recreational diving... I found all of this in the Mares Power Plana. The fins are still heavy, but feel a couple of pounds lighter than the Jet Fins. They are about the same length and width as the jets, but have more snap in the tip. They work equally well across the flutter and frog kicks (and even with my poor technique I managed a useable back kick). Finally, the bungie straps make them a breeze to get on and off. All in all a great fin for the Technical Diver, but one that will not destroy the legs, when diving recreationally.

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

    Questions about this item:

Jungho K  I wear a size large in the OMS slipstreams. Which size of the Planas should get? Regular?
ANGEL A  I wear shoes in the 11.5-120.0 US size range, I got the Power Plana Fins in XL, they were a perfect fit.
Shopper  I wear a size 7 wetsuit boot, regular Hollis F1s were too big. Will the regular likely fit or likely be too big? Cheers
Steve S  I would suggest the Medium. If you don't like the fit please call Customer Service at 800-637-6880 and exchange it for the next size through our PFF Guarantee.
Bill J  Is there a size chart?
Victor H  I did not find a size chart. I am a size 10.5 wide shoe size and use a R (Regular) size Power Plana with a 3mm dive boot. It has a fullsize foot pocket.
