Comments about Mares Avanti Quattro Open Heel Fins:

This fun put me through my open water certification class. I decided on a stiffer fin because I will be moving on to rescue diver within a few months. This is a very stiff fin. However, some of us favor a stiffer fin. As my second pair of fins, the Mares Avanti Quattro has become my "go-to" for any diving environment.

The bungee heel strap had me a bit worried to begin with. That fear is gone. Mares did a great job at designing a sturdy product. The fin feels true to size. I purchased SM and wear a size 8 shoe. My booties are 5mm. The foot pocket also feels true to size.
Overall: great product. If you purchase, be prepared to work yourself into these fins. However, it's totally worth it.

Comments about Mares Avanti Quattro Open Heel Fins:

I was concerned on buying the largest of the fins (XL) - I am a size 12 with a bootee. The L would have been a more snug fit although in use, I have enjoyed these greatly, with the larger pocket. The fin is exceptionally well made although I do have some concern about the bungee cord feature, being used to stainless steel strap of my aged Beauchat Jetfins, this is somewhat new and I hope will give me good service. Just used them for a week and never had any cramps...but then I am a photographer and swim slowly...

I wanted them to be lighter than the 25 year old all rubber Jetfins I have used. They are somewhat lighter but quite a bit longer...

Overall I am happy with the purchase...I may have gone with the L if I'd had the chance to do a side by side comparison...but these will be my diving fins for the future...breaking bungee cord notwithstanding....

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
RANDY B  Bought a pair back in 1997 and simply love them. I know that split fins are the in thing but I love how fast the Quattro propels me in heavy current. Never a problem with these fins. My son is now getting certified and he needs a pair of fins. Guess what ones I want him to have? That is why we bought them.
jeff h  New to diving and I would like to know how the length of the fin is measured?
RANDAL V  I have size small and they are 24 inches, measured along the bottom of the fin, from the fin tip to edge of the open heel.
Craig F  Undecided between these fins or the Mares Volo ?I spearfish but don't want to stiff of a fin. My fins are 10 years old and very flexible, I know anything will be a much better fin.
Steve S  Go with the Quattros. They are a bit stiffer, but not to stiff. These get you moving much better than the volo's.
