A solid fin that can provide power

I got these fins to contrast against the Seawing Novas I have. From what I can tell the Quattros are a good fin that performs as I would expect a large relatively stiff fin to work. The fin provides power, but requires a certain amount of strength in the user to not cause cramping. They defintely take more energy than the Novas, but depending on your level of fitness that may or may not be an issue. I can see this being a solid and dependable fin that will last a long time.

Strap came off

I purchased these while on sale in the Spring but did not use them until December. I sought advice using Live Chat for a fin to replace my 25 year old fins but were easier to get ON and OFF. They highly recommended these fins. These fins are easy to get ON and OFF which is a real plus. However I have two issues. Compared to my old Scuba Pro fins these are harder on the legs with no better propulsion. They were not real bad but as I am getting older I did not want to get ones that were w...

Nothing Special

By

from Gillette, WY, US

I had hoped that for the price and write up for these fins that I was getting a quality of fin that I hadn't seen before. I didn't, these Mares are comparable to many of the much lower priced fins I have used in the past. They work good and are of good quality but they're not any better than other much lower priced units.

Easy off and on

By

from South Jordan, UT, US

These replaced an old pink Sporasub Twinns that were impossible to get off, as they seemed to suction to my booties. My new fins are so easy to get on and off. We were diving in rough water off Ambergreis Caye and had to remove our fins while holding on to a drift line. These are so easy to get off, my old fins I'd still be struggling to get off! Loved them. Only suggestion is to make the pull loop, on the heel strap, a little bigger. It's was a little hard to securely hold both fins, through the loop, so I could keep other hand on drift line. It also made it a little hard to get finger out so I could pass fins off to Divemaster, quickly. Most people would have a hard time getting a good grip around both heel straps due to thickness of heel strap and little clearance between foot pocket and strap, even with extensions added. Color is more red than pink unless light is shinning through.

The wordings fade off after 1 trip!

By

from Singapore, Singapore, SG

Bought this to replace an older fins of the same model. While the new strap is easy to wear (just pull, no buckles to clip), the wordings faded after just 1 trip and there are rubber markings on the sides as well. Definitely seen better quality from Mares in teh past! Doesn't affect any functionality but ended up having to use WD40 to clean off the rubber marks on the sides after the trip. Would expect a higher quality from Mares!

The sports car of fins! Well - that was ALL I was going to say but apparently I need to use 50 characters!

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
JOHN K  Great reviews; great long time reputation. I initially purchased the Aqualung X Shots, but they were way too flexible and did not have as much thrust as my Aqualung Hotshots, so I am trying the stiffer Quattros to see if they perform better than the X Shots.
David T  Rated as a Great fin overall
DR. A  Great price!
jacqueline A  I read a number of reviews and these were rated the highest. Ease of removal is very important to me and I like the oversized bungee and boot space to reduce the suction. Couldn't resist the color and it is supposed to still be seen at 100'! We will see. I'm looking forward to trying these new fins! Efficient, easy, colorful and great price...great!
CAROL S  I use these fins with my drysuit rock boots and they are powerful and easy to don and doff. I just needed a smaller size for my regular dive boots. I read a lot of diver opinions as to which fins were best.
RANDAL F  Because of the reviews.
DAVID F  Love the straps on these fins, so easy to get on and off. They are slightly heavy, and stiff in the pocket,as well as a big fin but not to bothered by that, they are extremely fast when needed.
albert g  quality and reputation
Daisuke M  TO use new bungee Quattro
THERESA R  Color and good reviews.
Michael M  I wear a US 11 shoe but with widish feet. And the Tusa low shore/reef booties - not neoprene. L or XL?
KEN O  I wear a size 10 US and 3mm low booties. Mine show size "R" on them.
GARY S. T  I do the same. The XL is perfect. The strap adjustment is nice on these even if you want to go with a heavier booty.
Michael M  Thanks so much!!!
GARY L  Good question. Do you currently use a different brand? I'd try the same size. I think LP has a return policy if they don't fit. However, maybe this is a good reason to visit a local retailer and try on a pair with your booties in hand? BTW, I have 2 pairs of these and love them.
Shopper  Is the 900g weight per fin or the pair??
ALAN A  900 g per one fin
