About Lavacore by Oceanic Men's Long Sleeve Shirt

Lavacore is a technically advanced fabric, constructed and engineered exclusively for water sports requiring the ultimate in thermal control and superior comfort. This unique synthetic construction closely matches the stretch and movement of a traditional Lycia rash guard, while providing the insulation qualities similar to that of a neoprene wetsuit. Close to the skin, Lavacore's soft internal fleece and high 4-way stretch produces the ultimate comfort-warmth-weight ratio, a true leader amongst any fabrics within the water sports industry.

Wet or dry, hot or cold, Lavacore helps control your core temperature longer, whether worn as a standalone garment, or under your wetsuit or clothing.

OUTER Lycia layer is a 6.35 oz./10.8 sq. feet (180g/sq. m) knitted nylon wrap knit Tricot with water repellant treatment to ensure fast water runoff and anti-wind chill properties.

INTER layer is an impermeable breathable Micro-porous high stretch Polyurethane (PU) film which is wind proof and breathable allowing perspiration to be drawn away in hot conditions.

INNER Fleece layer is a 8.47 oz./10.8 sq. feet (180g/sq. m) 4 way stretch polyester fleece with elastane. It has anti-pill treatment, as well as anti-microbial treatment to reduce odors and eliminate bacteria.

Lavacore is neutrally buoyant so you won't need to add weight to your weight system compromising your weight comfort zone. Full gusset incorporated into the underarms offer exceptional arm movement and stretch and all seams are overlapped during flat-lock sewing to ensure maximum water integrity and strength. Lavacore provides SPF 50+ sun protection and is designed and developed with Oceanic, your guarantee of quality. Men's Long Sleeve Shirt has thumb loops and waist drawstring closure with barrel lock to prevent suit ride up when layering under exposure suit and is hypoallergenic.

Shirt runs very small in shoulder/ arms

I normally wear an XL but I had to exchange for a 3XL to get the right fit. I feel like it is equal to 2mm of Neoprene.

Sizes do Run Small

from Cincinnati, OH, US

I just wanted to let everyone know - when the other reviews state size's run small they aren't kidding. I'm a Large: always have been - Got the shirt: Returning it for X-Large.

Lavacore in the Galapagos

from Escondido, CA, US

The Lavacore top and bottoms were simple wonderful to use. My only advice is that they run small. I had to second day air a larger size before my trip to get it on time. I used a neoprene dry suite on my trip to to Galapagos which fit much closer then my cloth dry suite, so I was happy that the Lavacore fit snug to me body. Chad

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
John B  For warm water snorkeling to give more warmth, sun protection with the bonus of neutral bouyancy
JOSHUA S  I use it primarily for diving in Belize, but also as an undergarment under my 5mm when diving deep our extended dive time.
MICHAEL D  Wanted light weight exposure protection with more warmth than a rash guard.
Shopper  Is it best to get one size smaller than your shirt size for a better, snugger fit? I tend to get cold when diving in cool water even with my 5mm wet suit. thank you in advance for your time and help.
RONALD H  No, one size smaller will be too small. They are already undersize in my opinion. It is a struggle to get out of when wet. I wish I had purchased zippered version.
MICHAEL D  I use my normal shirt size. It fits very snug. Have not tried it under a thicker wetsuit. I use it as a light weight, warm weather suit.
BOB G  Lavacore sizing is odd. Maybe because the started in Australia? My dive buddies and I have all found that their shirts run small. Do not order a size smaller than your normal shirt size. If you do, the Lavacore will be uncomfortably tight. I strongly recommend you order one, or even two, sizes larger than you normally would. Don't be surprised if the sleeves are too long.
DAMARYS P  It is for the most part a true fit. If anything it's a little snug.
GARY P  No, they are sized correctly and have a lot of stretch. Get your regular size. Smaller would make it too snug
DALE C  That's a tough one as I remember the sleeves being too tight when the body fit, so I returned the long sleeve for the short, especially to wear under another suit. The material isn't as stretchy as neoprene, so you might think of that so you don't feel restricted wearing it. the associated measurement charts were pretty close, except for the sleeve thing. Hope that helps. Good diving to you.
KIRILL L  I would say, get your correct size or even a bigger size, it's very snag fit.
Joe S  LavaCore is supposed to be true to size, however in some cases it may fit a little small. Lavacore is the equivalent to a 1.5 - 2mm neoprene and neutrally buoyant. It stays a little warmer when layered beneath a wetsuit. It does dry fairly quick except the lower part of the garments where the water drains. After about half hour, just wring it out and it should dry fairly quick.
PAUL P  I wouldn't. I had the same concern but am happy with the snugness. I am 6 feet tall, 200 lbs and wear a large.
JEFF H  Not unless u wear regular clothes large. Pretty true to size. FYI, I don't find lava core to be warmer than reg neoprene. Maybe equivalent to 2 or 2.5 mm... Also, dries ok except lowest hanging part of garment stays damp a long time, so you feel like you are aways putting on damp suit. Don't use my lavacore as much as I hoped. I dive in a 3 or 5 mm in warm water a lot (long dives, 3-5x a day) and sometimes I'll throw on a 5 mm ore for xtra warmth, even ith the 5 mm full suit. Hope this helps.
SHAWN N  I found the Lavacore clothing to run small. You might want to purchase the shirt in your regular size.
Shopper  My stats are: weight: 67 kg height: 192 cm waist: 31 inches chest size: 93.5 cm May I know what size fits me? Thanks, Zacch
KIRILL L  I think you should try size M first (I'm wider and I'm on the edge between M and L). However It might feel too small as it has very weird cut in shoulders. Note that size L has the same feeling :)
JEFF H  You vs me (I hope I got conversions right) weight 147.7 lbs vs 144 lbs height 6'3" vs 5' 8" waist 31 vs 32 chest 37 vs 40 I bought the medium. And the medium shorts. Love them both. The shorts will fit you. It sounds like you are tall and thin. I am afraid the medium might be too short in body and sleeves; don't know if the large will be too big in waist and chest. Hope this helps but sorry I can't be of more assistance. So...I love the product. Remember Leisure Pro's policy: You have 60 days from the date of invoice to return the merchandise for full refund on your credit card. So I'd order one and see; if you have a trip coming up order both and return the one that doesn't work! See you underwater!
JAMES A  Can you convert that to non metric lol
Fabio N  Yes, you'll be fine!
