About Lavacore by Oceanic Men's Full Suit

Lavacore is a technically advanced fabric, constructed and engineered exclusively for water sports requiring the ultimate in thermal control and superior comfort. This unique synthetic construction closely matches the stretch and movement of a traditional Lycia rash suit, while providing the insulation qualities similar to that of a neoprene wetsuit. Close to the skin, Lavacore's soft internal fleece and high 4-way stretch produces the ultimate comfort-warmth-weight ratio, a true leader amongst any fabrics within the water sports industry.

Wet or dry, hot or cold, Lavacore helps control your core temperature longer, whether worn as a standalone garment, or under your wetsuit or clothing.

OUTER Lycia layer is a 6.35 oz./10.8 sq. feet (180g/sq. m) knitted nylon wrap knit Tricot with water repellant treatment to ensure fast water runoff and anti wind chill properties.

INTER layer is an impermeable breathable Micro-porous high stretch Polyurethane (PU) film which is wind proof and breathable allowing perspiration to be drawn away in hot conditions.

INNER Fleece layer is a 8.47 oz./10.8 sq. feet (180g/sq. m) 4 way stretch polyester fleece with elastane. It has anti-pill treatment, as well as anti-microbial treatment to reduce odors and eliminate bacteria.

Lavacore is neutrally buoyant so you won't need to add weight to your weight system compromising your weight comfort zone. Full gusset incorporated into the underarms offer exceptional arm movement and stretch and all seams are overlapped during flat-lock sewing to ensure maximum water integrity and strength. Lavacore provides SPF 50+ sun protection and is designed and developed with Oceanic, your guarantee of quality. Men's Full Suit has a front zipper closure, thumb loops and stirrups to prevent suit ride up when layering under exposure suit and is hypoallergenic.

Works Great for me!

Used it for 6 dives across Sint Maarten, St Kitts, and Grand Turk, Ambient was 85ish and balmy, water was reported at 82, dive comp recorded a low temp of 79 at each location. After the initial cool splash in, I was as comfy as being in bed under a sheet dive after dive. Now the most important part - the fit. I was concerned as I've read that the sizing charts were off in the past and items ran a size small. They seem true to measurements now. I write June of 2015, same as when my product wa...

don't order by size chart

size chart for this item is not even close. I ordered a large and am in the lower ranges of the chart at 6'0 and 205 lbs. Suit is very tight in arms and chest. Also a bit short. I was very difficult to get out of once in. I was then told to order the 2xl and still found it tight in arms and chest, but a better fit. The problem now was the length was to long and it had large folds in legs and crotch area.

Delivery was prompt, some items were back ordered, boot and hood (special offer) but leisure pro is always easy to deal with.

I write June of 2015, same as when my product was purchased and used. I am 5'7" 185-190ish. Chest 41", hips, waist, thighs, all 38". Bit of a tummy. Save for the usual squeeze around there (as to be expected, everything fit perfectly, and once zipped up fit just great all day.

Perfect Summer Suit

By

Lately I've been sweltering in a 3mm wetsuit at my lake and my new Lavacore suit is perfect on its own. I swim for two hours at a time, and the suit keeps me comfortable. This suit is several quality levels above the fleece suits I had previously considered -- it's beautifully constructed and put together. It's well worth the extra bit of money as well. The sizing charts helped me get the right size the first time, but the great try-on policy this company offers made buying feel so much better. Their sales help was also superb. I'm very pleased with my Lavacore suit and very impressed with Leisurepro.

Fantastic!

I love it. It works the way it was intended: breathable and warm. The medium was a tad long for a 5'4" guy.

Q&A

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
MICKEY G  I have an old areostar front zip dive suit. Really love it, but after 1300 dives it is a bit work. Lavacore is a similar , but better, suit. Really love a light(but 3mm), front zip suit.
Shopper  Will I fit into an S if I am 5'10"? Both ML and M are way too wide because I am tall and very thin.
KENT B  I am 5'9", 167lbs and have a Lavacor MD that fits very well. .
Joe S  The best thing to do is check the size chart since there is no way to know your measurements without listing them out. The sizing has run small in the past, but should be true to size now.
KEITH J  The legs may be too short. You can always return it.
JOHN B  Sorry, I don't think I can help. I believe I bought the 4XL, so no experience near that size range.
APRIL K  I would suggest you find a local dive shop that has the Lavacore and try different sizes to find one on to see what best fits you. I have found mine to be a little tight crotch to neck - don't get me wrong it works but need help getting it off my shoulders (I am 6'). Front zipper actually takes getting use to - again its the getting it off due to the front zipper. I think you can get a rear zipper now - that is what I would buy. LP is pretty easy to work with when things don't fit and have to be returned - it's just the time hassle. These suits are different than your normal exposure suit - I use mine for night diving only as they really do work in keeping one warm while wet and in the wind after the dive.
Shopper  What equivalent mil thickness is this suit, 3, 5, 7 ??
RENEE C  Just returned from Cozumel. Wore a 3 ml first day and lavacore the next. Felt equally warm both days.
IREM M  it is about 3...
PETRUS L  I would say it comes close to a 3MM. I've only worn it in the Caribbean and it was very comfortable, easy to don & doff and quick drying. It could probably be worn under another wetsuit in colder water.
JORDAN T  Oceanic claim it is equal to a 3 mm suit. I have used it with a 3 mm suit in colder temps, and I found it to be a comfortable dive. I am yet to actually test it to it's full potential. But for the time I have used it I would recommend it.
KEITH J  I found that it absorbed so much water that it was less insulating than a 3 mil.
JOE S  It is probably similar to my Henderson polyolefin dive skin - I'd quess it is equiv. to a 2 mm suit. Like the polyolefin - it has no buoyancy to weight against. I love these Lavacore products. They are soft on the inside and rugged on the outside, have a lot of stretch and are not restricting like rubber suits. It has a couple of minor downsides: 1. when it is wet it is hard to peel off the body and other fabrics [ I use a lycra diveskin under it for ease of removal.] 2. it takes a long time to dry [twice as long as neoprene.] I highly recommend Lavacore products - the vest is great and so are the hood and booties- very comfortable, soft and warm.
TIM B  Maybe a 5
HEATHER H  I would estimate it to be about equivalent to a 2 mil. as far as warmth.
