I've tried many different types and brands of ear plugs for kayaking (rolling) and these are the best! They let you hear what's going on around you with only a few drops of water getting in the ear. They are extremely comfortable even after 3+ hours of rolling practice.
These may have extended my diving for life

I suffer from "surfer's ears." Bone growth in my ears is increasing until I will need surgery. So, when I get the tiniest bit of water in my ears, it stays in, which leads to infection. I free dive with the JBLs at around 45 feet and they completely kept the water out.
JBL Hydro-Seals utilize an advanced multi-baffle polymer design providing exceptional protection against water entering the ear canal. In addition to greatly reducing the chance of infection by inhibiting bacteria from growing in stagnant inner-ear water, Hydro-Seals also help prevent the temporary loss of equilibrium. Simple and effective to use, Hydro-Seals reduce the chance of surfer's ear by sealing out cold air and water, which causes exostosis.
Exclusive Hocks Noise Breaker allows normal sound waves to pass through while preventing pressure build-up from water intrusion, making them ideal for divers that have trouble clearing their ears at descending depths. Hydro Seal Aqua Plugs are doctor recommended and are performed for left and right ear to give a custom fit.

You can buy them both ways, vented and invented. I always bought the vented plugs, these plugs are the best of them all and I used them all. They stay in your ear if you screw them in right. I always held on to my mask, reg and ear plugs when you jump off the boat, that's the only time you will lose them because of the impact. After that check while your diving. The large size was best for me, they fit and lock in my ear just right. The other sizes would fall out. Always mark the plug that goes into your right ear so you put them in the correct ear the first time

I have the JBL earplugs. Water still seems to get in my ears....I wonder if I am not inserting them right? Or maybe the wrong size...I have medium and am a female. Is there perhaps a demonstration video online from company that shows how to properly insert or know if you have the right size???? I have never used ear plugs before...so nothing to compare the, to. Thanks!

I had a pair of the JBL ear plugs and experienced the same issues of water leakage. I tried them several times and tossed them.

Do they keep water out at all depts ?
CHRISTINE S
Yes, I have used this product several times and it does keep the water out significantly. I would recomend them
PATRICIA J
Yes. They should not be used below 15 feet, because your ears need to equalize. Water flow into the ears help equalize them.

DO YOU THINK THIS EARPLUG COULD HELP ME WITH EQUALISATION ISSUES I EXPERIENCE WHEN SKYDIVING?
DONALD A
The ear plugs a primarily for keeping water from entering the ear canal. I guess you could try and see what happens, but since it is a pressure issue I suggest you learn different clearing techniques, and go see an ENT to see if there are other issues like ear wax build up.

I purchased these for my wife who wanted to keep her ear canals dry. They worked for that purpose. Do not put anything in your ear canal and dive...in water or skydiving. The pressure change might push the plug further into the ear than you expect!! I also had problems with equalization until watching utube videos by Aharon Solomons. His deep diving/breath hold equalization videos solved my problems with a bit of practice!

They plugs usually stay in and have a good fit while in the water, however I don't know that they will stay in place with the wind after the jump. Might be worth a try, but perfecting the Valsalva maneuver is always a good idea.
PATRICIA J
No, they do not have holes to help trickle water into the ear canal. I have found that Docs ear plugs do the job of equalizing my ears, with out me manually doing it.
BRUCE S
No. These plugs are designed to keep water out of the ear canal and are do not help with equalization underwater or above.
