About JBL Carbine Spear Gun (D-7)

Don't let the price tag fool you, the Carbine series delivers more bang for your buck than anything in its class. Just like its bigger brother, Carbines are constructed of 1" (25 mm) 6063 aerospace grade aluminum and feature high-strength stainless shafts and triggers. The D7 is powered by two 1/2" x 20" (13 mm x 510 mm) Hi-Mod band with 302 stainless steel wishbones. JBL's unique latex formulation and dip manufacturing process delivers radical modulus strength. The power curve increases as bands are stretched for optimum performance. Special anti-oxidants help protect against harmful U.V. rays, prolonging sling life. Gun has a low-profile, pistol grip handle that makes for easy target acquisition. So, if you want a spear gun that will bring home plenty of fish without breaking the bank, the Carbine fits the bill.

The Carbine comes equipped with the JBL733SB 33" (83.8 cm) Stainless 17-4 spring steel shaft with a 9/32" (7.11 mm) diameter, and is hand-tuned for alignment then heat-treated for maximum hardness to reduce flex and provide optimum energy transfer. Gun is equipped with a durable molded corrosion free ABS Handle & Muzzle, an overall length of 33" (83.8 cm) and has a 12' (3.66 meters) range. The JBLD-7 Carbine has a shaft with 6mm threaded shaft with a JBL847 Twin Barb Rock Point.

Tip is constructed of rugged stainless steel, JBL's fixed Spear points are a perfect blend of durability and performance. Each point is designed for low maintenance, dependability and most important results. 2-5/8" (67 mm) wing span this economical multi-purpose point is designed for increased holding power and 3/8" (9.5 mm) standard profile opens a large hole for easy passage of barbs through the fish, one shot is all you will ever need with this tip. Wing retainer allows for easy removal of fish. Point is for medium to small fish. A short-tapered, machine cut point provides enough muscle to withstand rock hits and still punch through skin and bone of even the toughest fish.

The JBL Carbine Spear Gun (D-7) is commonly used for Close To Shore, Small Prey, Warm Water and more. The JBL Carbine Spear Gun (D-7) is most used by customers who consider themselves to be a Recreational Diver among others. The JBL Carbine Spear Gun (D-7) is popular because customers like the following qualities of the JBL Carbine Spear Gun (D-7): Accurate, Durable, Fast, Good Range, Lightweight, Low Recoil.

Best first gun you could ever ask for.

The gun works great. My single complaint is that there is no place to attach a float line. I ended up replacing a screw in the handle with an eye bolt so I could clip my float line to the gun. Other than that, it is a superb gun. Easy to load, and the shaft is a bit heavier than similar guns, which I like.

Puts food on the table

Great little gun. I use it for flounder and sheepshead around structures so size is perfect for manuvering. Buy nylon kite string, I mean a longer shock cord to really take advantage of this gun.

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
CHRISTOPHER H  Was just getting into the sport, and wanted a quality gun without breaking the bank. Most of my spearfishing is done on shallow rocky reefs. I have now had this gun for over 5 years, and is still one of my favorites. I now have three different JBL guns, and all have been trouble free- and at a fraction of the cost of some of the other brands out there.
TRAVIS K  Just sold this last week to a girl. It's to small for what most people hund in N. Florida and to big for what we shot in Minnesota.
Shopper  WHAT IS THE RANGE ON THE D7 ?
CHADD Y  The effective range for this is about 10 -15 feet. I used this gun mostly for spearing lobster at point blank range.
TIMOTHY G  15' give or take.
Ben T  Average 16'
Shopper  what is the replacement shaft size?
DAVID R  SKU: JBL733S JBL Stainless Steel 33" X 9/32" (838 X 7.11 mm) Shaft for Carbine JBLD-7 Spear Gun
