I see this muzzle isn't for my specific 38 special as I have a 5/16 shaft. The aluminum tube is 1 1/4 though. I can't find one on this website. Any suggestions? or links?

What is the size of the muzzle opening? Is it the same as the stock open muzzle? I would like to replace a broken muzzle on a 38 special NW that has the correct barrel size, but If I am using a slide bushing (SKU# JBL785HD) on the spear, will the bushing fit inside the muzzle to work properly? Or is the bushing not necessary because the muzzle size is smaller?

I believe the muzzle opening is the same size as the stock one on my magnum gun. The main difference I noticed was my original muzzle was metal, this one is plastic.

The XHD muzzle is for use with the XHD 3/8" shafts. The XHD slide ring is sized for the XHD 3/8 diameter shaft. I feel certain the 38 special uses a smaller diameter shaft than the XHD and the slide ring would be a problem....slide ring too small.
So....the muzzle would probably fit your barrel, but the slide ring will be a problem unless you are using a 3/8" diameter shaft.

Thank you John, that clears it up and answers my question perfectly. And yes, the 38 special NW does have the 3/8 shaft, I think that's whats different about the "NW".

i replaced the muzzle on a 48" magnum speargun and the muzzle was a perfect fit for replacing the original cast aluminum. I reversed the slide bushing because the spear impact split and expanded the small end so that it will not fit inside the muzzle. However my gun is about 35 years old and is well used.

I am pretty sure that is a one inch muzzle and I have a slide bushing on my 38 special and it works just fine with my muzzle

I recently replaced my old open muzzle on my JBL 38 Special Northwest that had broken with this new closed muzzle on the 1 1/4" barrel. The new muzzle fit like a glove and was easy to install.
