Good Quality

I used this to replace the Muzzle on a JBL 38 special NW. The fit was great and it feels very sturdy, but keep in mind this is a plastic replacement for the original metal muzzle. The neon line sight bar on the top is a nice touch, very visible even underwater. This muzzle is lighter than the original metal muzzle and seems to be more bouyant. I also really appreciate the closed muzzle, it is easier to load with a slide-ring bushing than the original top-open style. My only concern is how long it will last, plastic gets brittle in cold water and can break down over time, however for the price I think its an excellent product and is performing so far. I gave 4 stars because there is a small imperfection in the plastic on the top of mine which doesnt harm the functionality but looks a little sloppy. There was some extra plastic stuck to the top of the muzzle which I trimmed off as best I could but it still has a some I couldnt remove without scraping on the sight bar.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
FRANCIS B  To replace a broken muzzle
JOHN F  direct replacement
Joe B  What is the size of the muzzle opening? Is it the same as the stock open muzzle? I would like to replace a broken muzzle on a 38 special NW that has the correct barrel size, but If I am using a slide bushing (SKU# JBL785HD) on the spear, will the bushing fit inside the muzzle to work properly? Or is the bushing not necessary because the muzzle size is smaller?
DANIEL R  I believe the muzzle opening is the same size as the stock one on my magnum gun. The main difference I noticed was my original muzzle was metal, this one is plastic.
MONTE T  Same as stock
JOHN F  Joe, The XHD muzzle is for use with the XHD 3/8" shafts. The XHD slide ring is sized for the XHD 3/8 diameter shaft. I feel certain the 38 special uses a smaller diameter shaft than the XHD and the slide ring would be a problem....slide ring too small. So....the muzzle would probably fit your barrel, but the slide ring will be a problem unless you are using a 3/8" diameter shaft. John H
Joe B  Thank you John, that clears it up and answers my question perfectly. And yes, the 38 special NW does have the 3/8 shaft, I think that's whats different about the "NW". Thanks again.
ALFRED P  i replaced the muzzle on a 48" magnum speargun and the muzzle was a perfect fit for replacing the original cast aluminum. I reversed the slide bushing because the spear impact split and expanded the small end so that it will not fit inside the muzzle. However my gun is about 35 years old and is well used.
DANIEL B  I am pretty sure that is a one inch muzzle and I have a slide bushing on my 38 special and it works just fine with my muzzle
Shopper  Does this muzzle fit the 4d46 or just the 4d46xhd?
Monica s  it will fit on the 4d46 as well, both barrels are 1 1/4"
