About JBL Woody Sawed Off Magnum 43.50" (6W44),

Point, shoot, eat. It's about that easy if you're shooting a JBL Woody spear gun. Each solid African mahogany blank is hand selected for straightness and grain pattern. The end result: a spear gun that works just as well stoning fish as it does looking good. Just pick one up and you'll know what we're talking about. Comfortable in Blue Water or right off the beach, these guns are the bestshooting partner you'll ever dive with.

The all new M8 Trigger is perfection. New internal components reduce loading force by 50%. Like its predecessor, the M7, it can handle inhuman levels of pressure 2400lbs (1089 kg), yet still deliver a butter-smooth pull less than 8lbs (3.63 kg). The secret is its proprietary three-piece trigger mechanism. Laser cut 1/4 stainless components ensure that it's the strongest trigger in the world.

The Woody Sawed-Off Magnum feature hardened 17-4 stainless steel shaft JBL739SA 39" (99.1 cm) long with a 5/16" (8 mm) diameter and three 9/16" (16 mm) Hi-Mod JBL220 bands with 302 stainless wire wishbones. The Gun is equipped with the JBL515Shock Line. Sometimes we miss or we shoot a large fish and the recoil can pull the gun out of your grip, which ever, the shock line will keep you in control. The Guns range is 18' (5.5 meters). The Guns overall length is 52" (132.1 cm).

Let's get right to the point, these tips are designed to punch through even the toughest fish, penetrating thick skin and hard bone. Constructed of hardened 17-4 stainless with a razor sharp finish they'll make short work of just about any game fish. Low-profile, stainless wings are quickly deployed and angled to grab tight and hold on.

Sliding wing retainer allows for easy removal of fish. JBL's patented (#4685239)rotating design allows for 360 degree spin, providing greater holding power and minimizing the chance of your point unthreading from the shaft as a result of a fish "rolling" in battle 2-5/8" (67 mm) wing span designed to perform even after impact on rock and reef, the JBL843 is a durable workhorse. Each point is designed for low maintenance, dependability and most important results.

Comments about JBL Woody Sawed Off Magnum 52" (132.1 cm) 6W44:

I'm from the midwest and just getting into spearfishing. my first time out with this gun I got a 20lb carp. second time out I got 5 freshwater drum (sheepshead).
Its easy to use, just point and shoot :)
I wanted a gun that was big enough to fit my needs here in the midwest and yet also be able to take to a saltwater location from time to time. Probably not big enough for deep, blue water fishing of larger game, but should handle anything up to 40 lbs pretty easily I would think.
      Very happy with my purchase.

tip wants to sink so you need to hold it up which can be tiring...I may experiment and try to add some floation to the front so its easier to take on long dives

        Questions about this item:

Shopper  so im looking to buy a speargun for the first time as i just got into diving, but i was wondering what the advantages/disadvantages of the open and closed muzzles?
JIM D  I purchased the open muzzle used it 3 times, sold it and bought the closed 52, this is a great size gun for all around use, especially in close quarters or dirty conditions. I like the JBL and feel it is a quality product, it is easy to load and shoot. I normally use my longer 62 inch gun for open / clear water or for free shafting. I mounted an Intova 220 lumin light to the front underside of my 52, removed the line which I replaced with a 22 foot coil type line, now I can free shaft with it or use the coil for shooting under rocks or ledges, so I do not loose my shaft. Using the coil or free shafting is much faster than using a line. My problem with the open muzzle was getting the line attached quickly, while my buddies were shooting all the fish. The line length is to short for shooting in open water. keep in mind I have always used a closed muzzle, and could not make the adjustment. All modifications were made with items purchased from Leisure, except the parts for the light attachment. West marine tiller parts $5 worth. Good hunting: Jim
Shopper  Trying to decide between this gun and the JBL Elite Woody Sawed Off Magnum 53". Any opinioins???
BIJAN R  both are good guns, The 52" however is harder to load (2 bands vs. 3 for 52"). I use my 52" every Sat. and Sun. for reef hunting. I had it for over 2 years and maybe 300 dives, no issue at all, Knock on the wood :)
Shopper  How many shafts and tips does it come with?
CHRIS P  One shaft and one tip
