About JBL Woody 38-Special Spear Gun 35.75"(6W38)

Point, shoot, eat. It's about that easy if you're shooting a JBL Woody spear gun. Each solid African mahogany blank is hand selected for straightness and grain pattern. The end result: a spear gun that works just as well stoning fish as it does looking good. Just pick one up and you'll know what we're talking about. Comfortable in Blue Water or right off the beach, these guns are the bestshooting partner you'll ever dive with.

The all new M8 Trigger is perfection. New internal components reduce loading force by 50% Like its predecessor, the M7, it can handle inhuman levels of pressure 2400lbs (1089 kg), yet still deliver a butter-smooth pull less than 8lbs (3.63 kg). The secret is its proprietary three-piece trigger mechanism. Laser cut 1/4 stainless components ensure that it's the strongest trigger in theworld.

The Woody 38 Special feature hardened 17-4 stainless steel shaft JBL731 31" (78.7 cm) long with a 5/16" (8 mm) diameter and two 9/16" (14 3 mm) Hi-Mod JBL216 bands with 302 stainless wire wishbones. The Gun is equipped with the JBL515Shock Line. Sometimes we miss or we shoot a large fish and the recoil can pull the gun out of your grip, which ever, the shock line will keep you in control. The Guns range is 14' (4.27 meters). The Guns overall length is 43" (109.2 cm).

Let's get right to the point, these tips are designed to punch through even the toughest fish, penetrating thick skin and hard bone Constructed of hardened 17-4 stainless with a razor sharp finish they'll make short work of just about any game fish. Low-profile, stainless wings are quickly deployed and angled to grab tight and hold on.

Sliding wing retainer allows for easy removal of fish. JBL's patented (#4685239)rotating design allows for 360 degree spin, providing greater holding power and minimizing the chance of your point unthreading from the shaft as a result of a fish "rolling" in battle 2-5/8" (67 mm) wing span designed to perform even after impact on rock and reef, the JBL843 is a durable workhorse. Each point is designed for low maintenance, dependability and most important results.

Great gun shoots well reload is easy good gun if you aren't going to be going deeper than 20 feet. The gun isnt really a 38 its more like a 36 i was kind of disappointed about that but its not a bad little gun.

            Questions about this item:

Shopper  What bands would make this gun stronger?
Michael C  In order to make this gun stronger you would need bands that are either shorter or thicker than what you have right now. The slings that come with this gun are 9/16in x 16in. So either get something thicker like a 5/8in sling, or you could get a shorter band, like a 14in sling. http://www.leisurepro.com/Catalog.aspx?op=gcsSearch&Term=sling#!1
Shopper  Does this gun penetrate well? Can this gun go through a grouper grouper? If not than what small gun can?
JACOB B  I got a through and through shot on an 18lbs grouper in a hole at a distance of 3 feet from the end of the gun. Also got a good shot through a trigger fish. They have tough hides. There is good penetration power in the range of the cord that comes with this gun. If you are going to add a longer cord I would recommend adding a spear with a second notch and another band. Or just learn to stalk your prey better.
