I dive for abalone and spear fish in north CA, and this gun is great anything from small sea trout to ling cod and halibut, one down side the metal ring on the spear that fits into the end of the gun, if your tip gets unscrewed you will loose it, but still a great gun.

This was the first gun I bought. It did not work right from day one. I had been using my friends AB-Biller and the two guns do not compare. Very inaccurate and very noisy underwater. After one shot, all the other fish leave the area because of the noise it makes. I would recomend AB-Biller or OMER.

Comments about JBL Magnum 38-Special Northwest Triple Sling Spear Gun (4D38NW):

great gun with plenty of power (when using 3 bands). Spear is very heavy and durable, but comes out of gun really slow with only 1 band. The tip unscrewed after the first three shots. Maybe a little locktite might help. great gun for thick skulled Lingcod!!

I havent had the need yet, but I am a little concerned about the closed design of the muzzle. I am not sure that sling replacement isnt going to be very difficult.

Comments about JBL Magnum 38-Special Northwest Triple Sling Spear Gun (4D38NW):

This has been the best all around speargun for the Pacific N.W. and beyond. I love the open breach for fast loading, the power is amazing for a gun under four feet. Pretty good quality, nice accuracy and plenty of range for our limited visibility. Great job JBL!!

Comments about JBL Magnum 38-Special Northwest Triple Sling Spear Gun (4D38NW):

Stop whining, I've owned a dozen guns and the NW magnum is the best of all worlds. It's short enough to nail the big ones on wrecks, durable enough for rock reefs, powerful enough for the bigger game, easy enough to use with thick gloves. Rinse it, maintain it and you'll never need to replace it. Great job JBL.
