Comments about JBL Explorer 24 Double Sling Speargun (4D24):

Ive used this speargun a lot over the past 3 or 4 months. This is a great gun overall. This gun is a great reef gun or close to shore gun for small-medium size prey. When in open water this gun performs average when going after decent size snapper and amberjack. Ive shot 20+ pound snapper and this gun performed good except for the tip. My one big complaint is that this gun doesn't have a detachable tip. If this gun had a detachable tip it would be 5 stars. The reason i would have liked it to have a detachable tip is because I recently shot a giant amberjack and while fighting it it ripped off and swam away. The barb doesn't open very wide so it was pretty easy for the fish to rip off. Ethier way this gun is really good overall.

Comments about JBL Explorer 24 Double Sling Speargun (4D24):

This is my first speargun and Im loven it. My cousin and I both bought one each. we were getting small to big fishes from left to right and its best short and long range. At first I thought it was too heavy to spear with one hand in the water but when I got in it was light as a feather, like I said its my first speargun and I really like it A lot and you can't beat the price.

Comments about JBL Explorer 24 Double Sling Speargun (4D24):

This was an XMAS gift to my daughter's fiancee. Based on my good experience with JBL spearguns, I decided to buy him the JBL Explorer 24 Speargun. It will be used in the Caribbean & New England waters close to shore. The only thing that it lacks is a track for the shaft but that should not be a problem since the rubber sling guns that I have owned in the past prior to my JBLs did not have tracks and they performed well.

Comments about JBL Explorer 24 Double Sling Speargun (4D24):

I dive the Puget Sound where the Ling Cod are huge and the water and visibility are challenging on a good day. This Gun is perfect for any size fish we have and is easy to load and use. Acurate is an understatement, point and shoot to 20 feet on two bands is easy. 8-10 feet a single band does the trick. Workmanship is excellent, and all materials are high quality. Great Buy!

          Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
GRAHAM S  good price for the money, i still use it, no rust.
Tom M  Can I use two of the Blue 5/8x24" JBL sling's with this gun to give it more power?
DENNIS C  I believe it is a blue 5/8" O D (16 mm) JBL424 slings to make this gun have more power with the same accuracy. I may have typed my numbers wrong so double check me on that. This is the best long gun for the money. I live in TX and have brought up 52" fish from 130 ft under in the gulf with no additional bands or shock line. I free dive around 40 ft and have never had the gun not make it through the target. Hope this helps.
Shopper  I'm 14 and have never used a speargun is this a good beginner gun if not which is under 150$?
THEODORE D  Sorry for the long delay, I was away on vacation. This would be a good speargun for a beginner especially if he/she wants a speargun to advance with - this gun would eliminate buying another gun as the person advances with experience. I bought this gun for my 33 year old son-in-law who is a beginner with the thought that he could continue using it once he became experienced. I started off with a similar gun (different brand)at age 15 when I first started spearfishing - continued using it until I graduated from high school and left for college. Note that this gun does not have a shaft guide - my first gun did not have a shaft guide either and it worked fine.
