Tag and Bag

I purchased this pole spear after going on several lionfish hunting trips in the Caribbean. These poisonous invasive fish need to be "tagged and bagged." This pole spear allows us to easily take multiple fish on each dive. It is light and maneuverable, very good for nailing fish hanging out on coral heads or wrecks.

Good product

By

The pole and case are very good for a travel set. I would buy again. The paralyzer tip is good for lion fish and that's about it. I can't even tell you how many hog snapper I miss before I switch to my trusty tip from my speargun and start slaying them. I've tried the tips that come with this and cannot recommend them.

Very Happy with this Spear

By

I have had so much fun with this spear. I've used it at full length and with 2 sections, it performed very well. It seems neutrally Boyant filled with air and was really fast. Pretty heavy when filled with water. Fits nicely in my dive bag. The only thing I'm concerned about is I hope the threaded ends hold up, seem fine but aluminum threads aren't that durable.

Q&A

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
JEFF S  Quality of gear!
SHARON R  Depends on where you dive as to what type of spear gun or spear pole you are allowed to use.
Art B  Does the entire length need to be used or can a spear tip be placed on the end of each length? Basically, can the pole spear be used at 2ft or 4ft? Thanks, Art
MIKE K  Yes, I have actually done that for short distances, cramped area and in the rocks.
WILLIAM G  This is a 6ft pole spear and the spear can NOT be placed on any of the break down sections. So no, you can not make it a 6ft or 4ft or 2ft spear.
CINDY P  I am looking to purchase this as a gift for my husband. What other tips or accessories should I consider?
VIOLIN D  It has the two most commonly used tips, so you shouldn't be purchasing any additional ones. Let your husband decide if he needs any others than those included in the set.
RICHARD M  Good choice for traveling. I used mine on lion fish near Cozumel and it worked fine. The question about accessories could be a little involved. As with everything it depends on the specifics of what he is going to use it for. In general, scuba divers are gearheads so they just cant get enough equipment. More tips is probably the answer. I am considering a range of powerheads (single-shot guns basically) for my spear. 12 gauge and .25 caliber to start with. The idea is to hunt bigger fish...
AARON C  I havent been in the water much the last couple years, but here was my impression as a beginner I found that the system was great as it was. if he plans to shoot bigger fish there are tip extensions and break away systems. After some experience myself, I met some other spearos and we added some self almagamating tape from the hardware store to make a better grip, and also created a better system for the band(including stronger band and dycron wishbone cord) so that it could shoot a bit faster. with use and time, the band will have to be replaced eventually. it is not a big affair to change it out It might be a bit slow for his liking if he is an experienced spearfisherman. There are other faster, spears out there. For the price, not all are as strongly built as this one though
JOSH P  It is a great product. I purchased a 2 ft extention it gives you more reach.
