I bought this to wear under my 7mm wetsuit. It does make a difference. The 1.5mm is on the front and back panel, and not the sides or sleeves. Even so, it still gives you that little added warmth. On colder dives, I'll wear a long sleeve 1.5mm under the wetsuit, but that tends to bulk up in the arms. This one is perfect. I have yet to wear it under my drysuit to see how it acts as an additional insulator. Overall, I've only used it a few times, but it seems quality made and should last for aw...hile. This was good buy. I recommend you try it out.
I ordered a large but it was much bigger than expected. They had me print a new label, returned free of charge and sent the medium. Fits just right. Price was about the best I could find and the quality looks good. Only worn it once as the water has gotten pretty warm but it was a replacement for one I wore out after 3 years. It appears to be as good as that one.
Hyperflex's latest layering innovation. This shirt combines the warmth of polyolefin with the thickness and core warmth of neoprene. 1.5mm neoprene on the chest and back, polyolefin on the shoulders, neck and underarms. This shirt can be worn alone as a warm water core warmer/surf jacket or layered under a wetsuit for added thermal insulation. Moisture Wicking: Polyolefin material wicks moisture away from the skin more effectively than any other fiber. As a result, there is no evaporative cooling against the skin which allows the user to stay warm and dry. Superior Insulation: Polyolefin has the highest insulating capacity of any fiber, natural or man-made.
Polyolefin is an extremely lightweight material. Warmth without excess bulk. The material is durable, incredibly strong and is remarkably resistant to abrasion and tears. Color is locked into the fiber so this garment will not fade when exposed to sunlight, chlorine or perspiration. The fabric provide no odor retention and easy care. Polyolefin is washable and virtually care free. Because Polyolefin is inert, the fabric does not support the growth of odor causing bacteria.

This is a men's top. I am not aware of a women's version of this exact one. If looking for Women's versions, check out Hyperflex's other company Neosport. I perhaps should have gone with that rather than the long sleeve version I also got.

I'm 6'4". I would say that it is sized for men.Great product. I would suggest that you search for a women's cut.
BOB C
Both, I've seen it worn by both. TV

ITs a men's but it would work well as a women's also.
DAVID L
Pretty sure it could be either one

Is this also a sun shirt (solar guard)?
DAVID L
You could wear it as one but it may be warm as it has a thin neoprene layer
BOB C
Yes

Definately 100% SPF but really better for light insulation than for sun protection. Good functional shirt for lots of water sports.

It's a "loose" fitting shirt that is made up of Lyrica on the sleeves and a 1mm neoprene on the chest and back. It gets very warm wearing it. I use it primarily for snorkeling. I can't see running around on the beach or by the pool wearing it. Way too hot.

Yes, I use it for sunburn reasons as well as chill reasons from wind. If the water was cooler I would be needing something else. It has been a great purchase for me as I sunburn easily and this top works well for that. I understand neoprene to be total block for sun so the front and back panels work better than a SPF 50 top. I am not sure about the Lycra sleeves part, but the neoprene part works very well. I do have both the short sleeve and long sleeve versions of this.

Yes, for sure, but if you're in the tropics, you're going to be hot unless you're wet.

How true to size is this product? Since there is no fit chart I would like to pick the correct size the first time. PPF guarantee is great, but time is wasted on returning and waiting for new size to ship out.n

I wear either a small or a medium for most shirts depending on the manufacturer and pattern. For this I purchased a medium and had to return it as it was really too big. The small is about right for me. I would say it runs big in my case so order down a size if in between.
Roger D
For me it ran big. I have a 40-42 inch chest and I was swimming in the large. Medium was about right.

"Craig, to me it runs pretty true to size. I wear an XL T-shirt and ordered the XL and it fits me just right. It is not too tight to make it uncomfortable but fits snug like a wet suit. I hope this helps."
