Fit, comfort, warmth

By MICHAEL W.

 -  Hartland, MI, US

Purchased this front zip model for both Kayaking and scuba diving. While tricky, am able to remove suit without any help (difficult cuz of front zipper). Tried suit with scuba in 54 degree water using a hooded vest and was warm enough at shallow depths. Willl evaluate Kayaking next season but expect it will perform well based on experience to date. I also own the rear zip version which performs well but sometimes requires help to zip up over a hooded vest.

Great travel companion, this full-length3mm nylon-2jumpsuit is outfitted with a generously cut front-zipper that some divers prefer for easier donning. An anatomically friendly suit design translates into a form-enhancing fit and better thermal performance. As with all Thermoprene suits, divers also get the benefits of the best in construction techniques. The abrasion resistant Thermoprene material is both glued and blind stitched, which clamps down on water seepage and provides tremendous durability. Cuffs are finished with a Spandex trim and Freedom Flex kneepads guard the knees and lower legs without sacrificing comfort.

Divers seeking a great value will appreciate Thermoprene's balance of performance and price. The latest technological innovation from Henderson, this new material delivers greater flexibility and improved features not found in standard neoprene wet suits, yet at a reasonable cost perfect for the cost-conscious buyer. Thermoprene is crafted from a high-quality neoprene and a low pill fabric. It has 75% more stretch than standard neoprene. Thermoprene is noticeably easier to don, pulling over the shoulders and around the torso with less huff and puff than standard wet suits. Also, the fabric's exterior stands up extremely well to the wear of BC straps and weight belts. Suit is available in multiple sizes.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Without the in between sizes, I am a large, but I'm only 5 ft 8 inches tall. Does this mean I'll need to trim it a couple of inches?
darrick c  Hello, I would take this is you need to alter it at all to a seamstress, or Tailor in your area that deals with Neoprene. If they do work with that material that would be able to custom fit this to you.
Shopper  does it keep you warm in temperatures as low as 50 degrees..leak proof?
Daniel G  It is a wet suit so it is designed to let in water. 50F is a little low for this. Maybe get a 4mm for 50F.
HANS V  For 50 degrees thermal wetsuit protection, you need a 7 mm outfit.
Benjamin C  Use it with a vested hood. That will keep you warmer and may be OK for 50 deg. F for a while.
BRYAN W  This suit is probably too thin for 50 degrees unless your body runs warmer than normal. It's more of a 60 degree and up suit. It is a wet suit so not leak proof.
Mario C  Cold tolerance is personal. For most people mid 50`s is 5mm territory. leak proof? its a wetsuit.. water has to go in.. and get trapped.. Give us a call for more info 212-645-1234 Dive dive dive!!!
PATRICK J  Agree with all the others, no it is not what you want for cold water dives for a couple of reasons. Wet suits by design are not leak proof. If you want leakproof, you need to go to a dry suit. 50 is far too cold for a 3mm, a 5- or 7-mm wet suit would be better, but then you have to deal with the bulk. IMHO, if you are diving in cold water, a dry suit is the only way to go. There are down sides to the dry suit approach including cost and training. But with a dry suit you can easily dive in ice water (or even under the ice)
NATASHA S  50F would be too cold. It is a WET suit not a dry suit so the leak question is not applicable. It worked quite well in Cancun cenote caves where it was 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
BRANT E  This suit will not work at that temp. You will need a 7mm with hood and gloves for that.
RUSSELL P  I agree with Tyson. 50 is too cold for a 3mm. Also, it's not leakproof and is not designed to be. That being said, I love this suit. Very comfortable and does what's it's supposed to.
Albert K  No, for 50 degrees you'll need a 7 mm semi-dry suit or a dry suit. A 3 mm is good for tropical waters of 70 F or warmer.
TYSON G  I have not used it below 70 degrees. It is not designed to be leak proof. It is designed to allow water in next to your skin. Look at getting a drysuit
LUIS C  No leaks, but 3mm is for tropical waters only. You might need 5 or 7mm
DOUGLAS B  No! 5mm Farmer John or a 7mm one piece is the better option. A Drysuit is the ideal choice. a 3mm works well in water 75 and above.
David P  Love the suit. But probably need something thicker at 50 degrees No problem with leaks
JEFFREY S  I don't see how to order the XL Tall?  Does that mean it is not available?
Mario C  This suit is not made in the in-between sizes. Manufacturer size charts are for all of their suits. https://hendersonusa.com/product/thermoprene-pro-mens-front-zip-jumpsuit/ the back zipper version does have all the other sizes. https://www.leisurepro.com/p-hndtj3pm/henderson-thermoprene-pro-mens-3mm-jumpsuit
Shopper  is the henderson thermoprene 3mm available with rear zipper?
Mario C  Thank you for your question. There are two male thermoprene 3mm with the back zipper. Follow the link on the pictures.
Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
NEAL L  Replacement for existing Henderson 3 mm that has worn out after about 800 dives.
BRIAN M  I ordered this because I love getting items delivered by UPS!!!!
MICHELLE H  Primarily bought for the front zip feature but also the updated theroprene material
SHAWNE G  Henderson is known for high quality wetsuits
LOUIS W  Seemed like a good product To add additional warmth beyond a simple dive skin
LOUIS W  It has a zipper in front. I am hoping that will reduce the compression on my neck and throat … my complaint with the back zipper wet suits.
MICHAEL D  Front Zipper and good reviews.
STEVE Z  Has front zipper and will be sufficient in warmer water.
WILLIAM G  To replace last one that lasted 4 years of commercial diving
MICHAEL H  Know the brand for quality and liked the front-zip feature.
WILLIAM M  Front Zipper
NICOLAS M  front zip is much easier than back so you dont need to ask someone else for help
W B L  Henderson builds a quality product. I want a suit less buoyant than my 5 mm suit. Better for swimming.
