Because it's balanced, is free flow a problem?
This regulator has a venturi which is easy to control. If this regulator is serviced properly or brand new out of the box, then pushing the venturi away from the mouthpiece will redirect the airflow, preventing any type of free flow.
This regulator is a great breather.
I have dove with this twice and I have not had a problem yet with back flow.
No - it's the same reg as the Oceanic NEO as well - fantastic reg. I don't have a way to measure if it's detuned at all compared to the standard version, but in my experience there's no issue with free flow - plus there's the dive/predive lever so you can adjust cracking pressure at depth.
Nope. Never had a problem. Have used it as primary regulator as a test and its great.
I don't have any free flow problems with this reg. I have my Hollis primary reg is super sensitive though. You have to pay attention to the dive and pre-dive settings. Hope that helps!
No Joe, free flow in not a problem with my 321 Hollis Octo
no problem with free flow like the Sherwood I bought before and replaced with this unit. The 321 octopus is awesome.. no problem, balance out from the box and performed excellent at 125ft plus temp. 75 deg. in Miami in the December and January. good price and highly recommended..
Never had a problem. Breathes great too!
My first stage Hollis is environmental sealed. That will help in cold water. However, I'm not sure what type of first stage you have with your setup and are diving in cold water.
No issues 80 feet over dozen times off nj coast and Mexico !
Free flow is always an issue with an Octo especially if not properly fastened, but nothing different with this unit noticed. Other than the less strain due to balance.
