About Genesis Origin BCD

The Genesis Origin is a lightweight jacket style weight integrated buoyancy compensator. It is the ideal entry level BCD for the budget conscious new diver. Durable and stable, the Origin is ideal for the dive center looking for an affordable weight integrated jacket for rental purposes. The two large zippered pockets are functional and accessible for all divers and instructors. The Origin BCD is made from durable fade resistant 420-Denier nylon fabric with a urethane lamination interior air cell with radio frequency (RF) welded seams for airtight integrity. Buoyancy control is made easy with the Genesis power inflator mechanism with cable activated pull dump at the left shoulder and a pull dump valve on right shoulder. The BCD is also equipped with a lower rear right pull dump/overpressure relief valve with manual pull for trimming of buoyancy when you are inverted in the water. Making the proper fit is easy with the BCD harness assembly consists of torso adjustable shoulder straps with an adjustable sternum strap and adjustable waist strap with cummerbund. All strap buckles are squeeze-style side-release buckles for easy donning and doffing.

This rugged design BCD jacket has an integrated 20 lbs. (9 kg) releasable weight system with 10 lbs. (4.5 kg) in each pocket. In addition, there are two rear non-releasable weight pockets that hold up to 5 lbs. (2.5 kg) each. BCD has optimized D-ring positions and packs flat for easy dive travel. The Genesis Origin BCD is well suited for local diving with lift capacities of 21.1 lbs. to 60.7 lbs. (12.3 kg to 27.5 kg) depending on sizes. Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

STEVE S  how many straps to hold the tank?
Mario C  One strap.
LUCIELLE M  I am 6'1" tall, have a 34/35 waist, weigh 190lbs- what size should I buy?
JUNE H  Large should work best.
PAUL H  When I purchased my XL, I was 195 lbs, 5'8" and 39" waist and the BCD was too large for me. My only concern would be a Med might be too small given your height but a LG might be too big given your small waist. When checking availability, make sure Leisure Pro has both a Med and Large in stock and check their return policy. I would try the Large first and if the fit is not right, return it for a Med. It's a great BCD and I was very happy with it.
ADVANCE C  Enter an answer to this question. I`m think you should buy an XL
RICK W  I am 6'3, 180, 32 inch waist and I wear a large. It fits great and has quite a bit of adjustability. I think a large will fit you fine.
SAMUEL C  My height is 5'10", weight 155 lbs, and waist 32 inches. According to the size chart, it looks like my weight and waist are medium but my height is large. Which size would I choose?
Steve S  Go with the Medium. The medium will most likely fit you best. If it does not fit though, just give customer service a call to exchange the size using our Pressure Free Fit Guarantee.
JERRY L  This BCD was purchased for our club, so I have never personally warn it as I require a large to X-large. That being said, I recently lost weight and the cummerbund on my oldest XL BC now only has 2 - 3 inches of Velcro that still makes contact on the inside. The cinch strap can only take it in so far and the BC no longer holds securely without significant care when doing. I do fit club members for gear often and there is a significant range to adjust the height of this BC. The cummerbund and waist straps on the other hand can only cinch in so far and a loose BC is dangerous as it can slip up your body until the pockets are in your armpits. I would fit a medium BC to someone of your proportions.
REY Y  It depend where you dive cold or warm . If cold medue be tight large be better. Try it out
TIM A  it is best to your local your local dive shop to make sure of correct fit, you can't really go just by the chart, you need to try one on
ADVANCE C  Hi Sam I think that you can wear a medium one but the Large assures you that there will be no problem with the thicness of the dry suits you will use. And you can carry more ballast
CHUCK B  Choose the large. The cumberbun will cinch down to compensate for the size. But you can't make the medium long enough to be comfortable. Hope this helps
PAUL H  Stick with the Medium. These BCD's tend to run larger than expected. I am 5'8", 190 and 38" waist. I bought the XL and I should have bought a Large.
LISA D  I got this for my daughter, so not sure if I can answer
Shopper  Is this for males or females?
GREG J  Genesis Omni is designed as a unisex BCD.
AYBERK O  This is for Males.
WALTER C  Hello The Genesis Omni is for Males -- the vests made specifically for females typically have a swivel joint of some kind on the straps as well as other features -- see the Agua Lung Libra and similar. I like the genesis ... large lift, 30# weight capacity for winter wetsuits and back buoyancy. Note: these are features that may not be priorities for women divers. Good Luck
NICOLE K  My husband and I both have this BCD. It looks like this is the male version as the female version has a subtle floral design on the weight pockets. For what it's worth, we both love it!
JEFFREY W  I would say more male oriented..
RAYMOND S  I'm a male and the bc fits me just fine,it is a back inflation that takes some getting used to,due the fact when you are on the surface it tends to roll you on you face.my next bc will not be a back inflation.
JEREMIE C  This was purchased for my little brother who is 5'10ft and 150 lbs. He Has been really happy with it. We dive the great lakes and Florida with it often. I would say that this bc could be for female or males. There are few specific things on bc's that I have found that make it gender specific. I recommend this overall.
VP165030 K  This is a male BCD. However, it is pretty comfortable for female unless you have a huge chest area.
JEFF A  Either, I'm a male but I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be perfectly acceptable for a female. I have been completely satisfied with this BCD. Very sturdy
F. ALLAN V  Male.....
CHRIS S  I would consider it unisex or gender neutral. I (a male) have worn it, I have also loaned it to females who had no fit/comfort issues with it.
JOHN J  I used the Omni BCD for recreational diving. As an XL Male it worked very well. I imagine that a female can use it as well as long as the size is correct.
Shopper  Is there a combo octo and inflator hose that fits this bc?
LeisurePro S  Check out the Sherwood Gemini (Sherwood and Genesis are sister companies) as a good combo octo.
