About Dive Tracker Scout System

DiveTracker Scout is a very simple, yet very effective, underwater homing system It was originally designed for sport divers; since then, it has found a variety of applications in underwater commercial and military ventures, law enforcement, and science Typical tasks include marking of underwater objects, safeguarding and recovery of underwater instrumentation and vehicles, general diver navigation, and emergency pingers for divers

The chief attractions of this system is the ease of use, low cost, and operational reliability due to their simplicity The system consists of two components, a transmitter (pinger) and a receiver Using the indicators on the receiver, a diver can easily return to any location or object marked with a transmitter To aid in the return to a boat, the transmitter may be lowered from a boat or attached to an anchor line To serve as a distress beacon, the transmitter can be carried by a diver and can be activated if an emergency occurs A diver can carry transmitters, and then use them to mark underwater objects or locations for a later return Any number of receivers can be used with one transmitter, allowing a group of divers to use the system

The Scout is small, easy to use, and inexpensive The Scout receiver is not much larger than a magic marker; it won't get in the way Attach it to a D-ring on your BC and you'll hardly know it's there The Scout uses a single 3-color light to indicate both distance and direction Sweep it

around until your fine the strongest signal and then go in that direction to find the transmitter Now just watch the light If it's red, you are 300 to 1,000 feet away Orange means 100 to 300 feet And if the light is green, you are less than 100 feet away The light blink speed will also vary It will indicate that you're 100 feet away (slowly blinking green) or 20 feet away (quickly blinking green)

We recommend Scout for general navigation tasks and operations where small size is of the essence

The Dive Tracker Scout System is commonly used for All Diving Applications, Recreation and more. The Dive Tracker Scout System is most used by customers who consider themselves to be a Advanced Diver among others. The Dive Tracker Scout System is popular because customers like the following qualities of the Dive Tracker Scout System: Easy To Use, Functional, Improves Diving Experience, Lightweight, Solid Construction.

This wonderful device gets me back to the boat EVERY single time I use it! We spearfish so we get off course a little with our navigation but this device is on the money every time. Its easy to use, smaller than most lights, and I never enter the water without it! I highly recommend it to anyone diving off anyone's boat - commericial or individually owned!

hang the transmitter over the side below lowest portion of the boat and go diving, follow tracker signal back to the boat even in poor or no viz. Easy to operate and understand.

It took me 2 dives to get used to it. On my 3rd dive it got me so close to my kayak I almost hit my head on it.
I will take it on all my dives.

Comments about Desert Star Dive Tracker Scout System:

The Scout has a learning curve over the sport but it works very well. mine had to go in for repairs after its 6th dive .and desert stars service is non existent, they do not answer the phone ever. try to call the company before purchasing. you will see what I mean.
I only give 2 stars because of poor construction and bad customer service.

This would be a 5 star product otherwise

Comments about Desert Star Dive Tracker Scout System:

I used the Scout on 12 dives on my last liveaboard trip. The unit worked as advertised and I ranged it out to appx 500ft. The LED lights are somewhat small, but adequate. The light combinations and pulse rate require some experience to interpret correctly, but are easily mastered after 2 dives. All-in-all, this device adds an extra measure of confidence to the diving experience.

            Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
JAMES S  Read reviews and saw fellow diver using a similar system on one of my liveaboard trips. Unit performs as advertised and gives an added degree of confidence to the diving experience.
Shopper  I'm trying to decide what to get. Why did you pick this one?
ANDREW I  I picked it for the range that I usually stray from the anchor. Experience has shown me that if you don't have at least 20-30 ft of vis AND some structure to orient you, don't count on the unit. It is great but should be a backup and not primary navigation tool.
Shopper  What is the range of this system? How deep can I dive with it?
LeisurePro S  The range is approx. 1,000 feet with a operating limit of 300M.
