About Dive Rite Rec EXP Wing

The Rec EXP is the Flagship of Dive Rite's Innovative Line of 360 Degree, Donut-Style Wings. Donut Wings tend to provide Greater Stability and Control in the water, Improving Diver Buoyancy and Trim. The Rec EXP is shorter than Div Rite's traditional Rec Wing, which means it now fits a Wider Range of Diver Statures; whereas Dive Rite's traditional Rec Wing is best Suited for Tall Divers or Divers who require more Buoyancy at the Waist.

A Hybrid Wing, the Rec EXP can be worn on Single or Double Tanks making it one of Dive Rite's most popular Wings. When Diving with a Single Tank, The Rec EXP Wing has 2 Clips on each side attach to D-Rings on the Back-Plate, keeping the Wing Close to the Diver's Body. This avoids the Taco" effect of the Wing Wrapping around the Tank, Away-from-the-Diver, which Diminishes Buoyancy Control.

At Full Lift Capacity, the Rec EXP has 45 lbs (20.4 kg) of lift and can accommodate Two 85 cubic feet (12 liter) Back Mounted Cylinders. The Rec EXP Wing Series is built with Value-Driven and Durable 1680-Ballistic Nylon EXP Material that is Resistant to Tears and Abrasions. The Rec EXP line's Toughness is further enhanced with a Heavy-Duty, Radio Frequency (RF) Welded 210-Denier Nylon Urethane Laminated Bladder. The Rec EXP has Urethane Flanges Welded in place which makes it easy to switch out Corrugated Hose and Over-Pressure Relief Valves without tools. The Rec EXP comes with either a 16" or 12" (40.6 or 30.5 cm) Elbowed Inflator and a Low Pressure Hose for attachment to the First-Stage Regulator. Wing has a Lower Left Front Over-Pressure Relief/Dump Valve. Two Sets of Marine-Grade 316-Stainless Steel Grommet Mounting Holes are used to attach the Wing to the Harness and/or to Double Tanks and Set Divers Trim. The Rec EXP measures approximately (H x W) 24" x 23" (60.9 x 58.4 cm) deflated and weighs 3.12 lbs (1.4 kg). The Rec EXP Wing comes with Owner Manuals, is covered by Dive Rite's Limited Lifetime Warranty and is proudly made in the USA.

Questions about this item:

Ian D  do you have any pictures of the wing? Was it ever in the water? What accessories would I need to use this for single tank diving?
SVENJA W  I am not sure if I get the first two questions? 1) Yes, I think there are pictures. 2) Where else would I take it? So far I used it for two seasons as DM in warm water and for a few drysuit dives in cold water. 3) You don't need anything accessories (apart from a harness) for single tanks. The cambands hold everything in place. I use it with the DR Transpac XT without the soft backplate. The only thing I changed: I removed the bungee straps and folded the wing instead. Otherwise it is still too 'bubbly'. I find this wing is too big to be working well with single tanks. I used it for about 250 dives and have ordered a smaller bladder for warm water diving, but will keep the Rec EXP for drysuit diving.
KEITH Z  No pics yest. Sorry. Haven't used in water either. There are multiple accessories for this setup. Personal preference but the add on weight pockets would be a good start.
Dave K  I love this wing I have over 20plus dives on it so far. The good thing about it is it's a hybrid wing meaning it will accommodate a set of doubles( small to medium cylinders). For a single you need a set of plastic "sex" bolts to attach the wing to the harness if you are using a Dive Rite Transpac and you need to loop the bungee that's on the wing around the loops on the backpack so the wing doesn't "taco" around the single cylinder. I can upload pics of my rig for you another time.
Ian D  So, there are no connection points to use the "taco tabs"?
Dave K  Im not sure about any other harness and backplate, but if you are using the Transpac there are nylon loops at the edges of the soft backplate that you loop the bungee from the wing through and connect back on itself. I've heard about "taco " tabs , but if you are using the Transpac harness you don't need the "taco" tabs. I wish I could upload some pics, but not sure how I do it on this forum
