I dive a Halcyon BC and really love it for doing all sorts of diving. I travel everywhere with this system. I wanted to be able to be able to get it on and off easier. I have found dive Rite's harness system converted easily to my Halycon back plate. I noticed on the first dive no difference in diving with this harness, however on the boat and shore it was a dream for getting the BC on and off.
Great company. Recommend it to all divers

The staff at leisure pro are great. I mentioned that I am a veteran and they thanked me for my service, and applied a discount for the gear I bought.
The Dive Rite Trans-Plate Harness is a hybrid harness designed for divers who want the support of a backpack-style harness for better weight load distribution, yet wish to dive a hard metal back-plate. Designed like a mountaineer's backpack, the Trans-Plate Harness disperses weight across the hips and back, minimizing shoulder strain. When used with a 6 lbs. (2.73 kg) steel back-plate, divers can remove or minimize weight pockets. Adjustable straps adapt to a wide variety of exposure suits and means easy donning and doffing. The modular design allows for customization with a wide variety of pockets and accessories.
The harnesses shoulder pads constructed of 1000-denier ballistic nylon fabric for tear and abrasion resistance. 2" (50mm) nylon webbing rated at 7,000 lbs. (3,182 kg) breaking strength forms the shoulder straps and waist strap. Four 2" (50mm) D-rings on each shoulder strap are slightly bent for improved access and placement can be adjusted. Note: size medium has only one 2" (50mm) D-ring per shoulder strap due to space limitations. Marine grade 316-stainless-steel hardware is used throughout including: in addition to the (2) bent D-rings on each shoulder strap there are (2) waist D-rings, XT chest plates, belt buckle, cam strap buckles, and side plates.
The shoulder straps feature pivot rings at chest-level for comfort, fit, and load distribution. Acetyl resin engineered plastic squeeze-style" quick-release buckles on shoulders for easy doff and don. 1" (25mm) nylon webbing rated at 2,200 lbs. (1,000 kg) breaking strength and a Delrin 1" (25mm) squeeze-style quick-release buckle is used for a chest strap. Marine grade stainless-steel base plates allow for proper placement of shoulder straps. Plates can be moved forward-or-backward on the waist strap to get the best fit and performance. Harness comes with an owner's manual, is available in multiple sizes, weighs from 39 oz. to 48 oz. (1,106 to 1,361 g) depending on size and is proudly made in the U.S.A. Please note: Stainless steel and/or aluminum back-plate, and cam straps are sold separately (see SKU's: Back-Plates; DIV2117, DIV2116, Cam Straps; DIV2032, DIV2035).

DOUGLAS C
No, but it’s very simple to get the harness put together. Lots of YouTube videos if you need them.Enter an answer to this question.
DOUGLAS F
No it does not come assembled. I just searched for it on YouTube and found a great DIY video.
James R
It does not.
JOSE J
No, it doesn't. Even the plate comes separately (plate is other item) and you can (need) choice between steel, aluminum or composite material.
DALE S
It comes in kit form...all the pieces are there and you assemble it to fit. The instructions are easy to follow, and adjustments are a piece of cake.
JAMES J
No, you have to size it to your body type.

Can weight pockets still be easily attached to this harness?
JOSE J
Yes, It can be very very easily attached.... by sure
STAN H
Yes, they can be attached. And it is relatively simple to do.
LORI S
Yes. Weight pockets can be added to the waist strap if needed. I like to attach mine to the tank strap so they don't move around as easily and keep my weight even.
DOUGLAS F
Yes, I later bought the Dive Rite weight pockets and they fit/worked perfectly.
ETHAN S
Yes almost all dive rite gear is module
Julio G
Absolutely! The trans plate harness is very modular. You can customize it however you want. Dive Rite makes many accesories, weight pockets etc. You can weave it through with the webbing.
PETER S
Yes. You can put just about anything you want whenever you want and then you can change everything depending on the dive. on That's one reason people like them.
ANDREW L
Yes, I use dive rite quick release pockets. Works great.
Roman M
Can this harness be used together with Zeagle BP?!
VERNON W
The question is whether you are going to use the dive rite back plate. Then can the zeagle air blatter be taken off and mounted to the back plate. I used this harness to a Halyon backplate and really love it. Hope this helps.
FRANK S
Roman M: yes, I am using it on my Zeagle Stainless Steel backplate. I got the BP at about 10 yrs ago thinking I could put it on my Ranger. I wanted more stability in my rig especially when carrying my 130 tank.
I am 5'11" about 185 pounds, sort of broad shouldered, short trunk. A large was fine with my cold water dry suit and lots of underwear.
Changes and complaints:
1. the shoulder adjusting straps are narrow, rough in texture, and hard to work but adequate.
2. waist belt uses a ring type at the end of left and right sides to loop around slots in BP to attach. I found to be pain in the back. Replaced with continuous strap with installed grommet (by me) in center of strap to bolt to BP at lower wing attach point.
3. 4" recommended distance for shoulder/waist belt attach point very correct
4. initial shoulder strap positioning a little high for me, I lengthened straps to lower chest strap position and it's much more comfortable.
Play a lot with the adjustments. When rigged properly, it becomes part of your body. It's SO much better than a regualr BC
If you are cold water diving, extra weights are a problem. Not as much room on the belt. Many quick ditch pocket options available, I've explored about 10 and think the Sea Soft new quick ditch (NOT the ones in the pictures both on Leisure Pro or Sea Soft websites) will be the best. They might not even be out yet. 2 sizes, the Leisure Pro ones right now will be HUGE. Wait for the mediums. Call Sea Soft to find out. Coordinate with LP as to when they might get them.
Go for it. It's a great conversion.

hi,would this trans-plate harness size 2x-large will adjust down size to suit a medium person?cheers
VERNON W
Yes, however the chest strap mill be off.
Daniel A
Yes it can. You will have to adjust the position of the D rings and other hardware from the spots the manufacturer suggests and will probably have to trim the straps quit a bit but it will adjust down.

Dose this harness com with a crotch strap? If not is one available?
RICHARD G
You definitely need a crotch strap as these will ride up more than a traditional BCD when inflated on surface. I personally find the 1 inch more comfortable than the 2 inch version.
