Works great.

I love this gun. I use it in Wisconsin for carp and have been getting them up to about 20+ lb with no problems. The spear head that comes with the gun is I would get a new one as soon as you can from Leisurepro. But keep in mind you will need to get an adaptor for the shaft to fit a JBL head. The only problem that I have with this gun is that it is VERY hard to load under water. With that exception it works great.Go to this youtube video address to see this gun in action o...

Glad to be alive.

Due to the lack of instructions I ended up taking the nozzle of the gun off while trying to figure out how to load the gun when I nearly shot my head off as the nozzle went zinging pass my forehead along with several other parts as well as oil that strayed everywheres.Wouldn't recommend anyone doing that.Make sure you get more info before using.

Great product

from Cheyenne, WY, US

Great product. Good power but still able to load with little effort. Price is fair.

On my second one now

from Morehead City, NC, US

My first one (the Star 40) lasted a good 15 years (but not with constant use), eventually it started leaking while unloaded. I had never removed the plug to pressurize it...and that thing was NOT coming out. So I'm giving it only 4 stars due to the...let's be honest...stupid... design of the plug at the back. That thing has a 'coin slot' and is made of soft plastic...which immediately strips if there is even the slightest excessive torque required to remove it. Another ding is that when I did finally get the plug out (in many tiny pieces) and tried to pump it up with the supplied pump...the pump handle was pushed back all the way by the air pressure and then leaked all the pressure out. I did connect it to my dive compressor (not running...just with pressurized hoses) and gave it a brief hiss of pressure, which did bring it back to a nice pressure, but it was still leaking when unloaded. has been an excellent gun all these years, I agree with what others have written about power and accuracy, the old one owed me nothing. I bought an exact replacement and definitely recommend it.

Great gift!

My husband is in love with his new toy and canâ??t wait to use it.

Great rockfish and lingcod gun

from Ukiah, CA, US

I have used this gun for years shooting lingcod and rockfish in the ocean. To make the loading easy under water i took off the spearhead and put on a five prong that i bought on this site. This combo is deadly and kills the big lings dead, no turning or twisting ..lings are DEAD!! Lings to 20lbs have all died with ease!!! It also makes it easy to hit the smaller rockfish. Good for about three feet, but its not hard to get right on top of a ling or rockfish. Only complaint is the hard trigger pull...should be a easier pull.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
Laura Q  I bought one of these last year and it worked great. This is my second one. Its not easy to cock but worth the trouble when you see the power it has.
HARRY D  Great price, great gun. Powerful, easy to shoot.
Shopper  Can I buy a reel to add on this speargun?
KEVIN F  You can, but you'll need an adapter as well.
Sam O  Does it come with line? and how would the shaft hold up against carp?
STEVE G  it came with no line and will hold up to carp as has a 8MM shaft
TIMOTHY M  Yes it comes with a nylon line. Now as for the power in this gun its got it. I have shoot 40+lb ling cod All day. Its has a lot of power. The carp will not stand a chance.
LINDA P  Yes both of mine came with line but i switched it out to a tuna cord. Looks like a old telephone cord. And yes the shaft is good. I use a rockpoint tip that swivles.
PAUL S  It does come with line but I personally prefer using 180 lb-250 lb (mono-filament fishing) line or braided kevlar both of which are easy to find on-line. As for carp, it's all a matter of fish size (weight / strength) and of course where you hit it (preferably in the spine right behind the head). You should be able to bring in a 40 pounder (well hit). Beyond that it becomes iffy ...
FERNANDO R  Yes, it comes with a line
HAROLD W  Yes the line Is included. Carp? I can't answer that but it is a powerful gun so I don't believe you'll have an issue.
